City of Flagstaff, Arizona Resiliency and Preparedness Study

September 2012

The City of Flagstaff, Arizona completed a study that assesses 115 of the City’s critical operations that have been impacted by climate. Conducted by a team of City staff and regional partners (the "Core Team"), the study recommends an overarching policy aimed to increase protection and resilience within municipal operations to hazards - including fire, severe winter storms, drought, floods, and more.

This report provides a snapshot of recent scientific literature and analysis of likely impacts and risks that would be associated with a 4° Celsius warming within this century, focusing on developing countries and vulnerable populations.

Vancouver Climate Change Adaptation Strategy

King County, Washington 2012 Strategic Climate Action Plan

December 3, 2012

King County’s 2012 Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP) summarizes the County’s efforts in addressing climate change, outlining the county’s most critical goals and priority actions for preparing for climate impacts and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The plan is designed to inform policy and budget decisions, and to serve as the framework for annual reporting along with the County’s energy, green building and environmental purchasing programs. The plan responds to King County Council Ordinance 17270, which required the county executive to develop a strategic climate action plan by 2012, and update the plan in 2015.

Tracking the Effects of Sea Level Rise in Georgia's Coastal Communities

December 14, 2012

This report focuses on the sea level rise impacts as well as adaptation opportunities for three counties along the Georgia coast (Chatham, Liberty, and McIntosh).  The result of a semester-long graduate planning studio at the Georgia Institute of Technology, the project's goal is to provide residents, decision-makers, and researchers with information that can help to proactively plan for future sea level rise (SLR).

Estimating and Forecasting Ecosystem Services within Pine Island Sound, Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, North Captiva Island, Cayo Costa Island, Useppa Island, Other Islands of the Sound, and the Nearshore Gulf of Mexico

This study identified the range and quantity of ecosystem services within the Pine Island Sound region. Pine Island Sound is located in Lee County, Florida, lying between Pine Island and the barrier islands of Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, North Captiva Island and Cayo Costa, which separate the Sound from the Gulf of Mexico.

This report, subtitled ''Extreme Weather, Climate Change and the Community Sector - Risks and Adaptations," evaluates community service organizations current vulnerability to climate change impacts to physical infrastructure, and their role in managing risks to their clients and the community. The research was funded by the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility in Australia.
