George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication - 4C
The Center for Climate Change Communication ("4C") at George Mason University was created to conduct unbiased social science research that will facilitate public engagement in the decision making around climate change. The research center uses social science research methods - experiments, surveys, in-depth interviews and other methods - to find ways of effectively engaging the public and policy makers in the communication around climate change, and in considering and enacting solutions. The Center's mission is "to help government agencies, non-profit organizations, and companies apply the results of this research - so that collectively, we can stabilize our planet's life sustaining climate."
In June 2011, 4C released four reports from a national survey on Americans' climate change and energy beliefs, attitudes, policy support, and behavior. This series, 'Climate Change in the American Mind' has since been updated as additional series published in the Spring of 2012, as well as in Fall 2012. All of the related reports can be accessed from their website. For more detail, this clearinghouse provides a review of the report 'American's Global Warming Beliefs and Attitudes in September 2012', from their Fall 2012 series, as well as 'Extreme Weather, Climate, and Preparedness in the American Mind' (see links below).
