Developed by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, eCoastal Tools can be used to help make coastal engineering and planning decisions. A set of applications that enable ArcGIS users to gain access to interfaces for data retrieval and to simplify complex GIS analysis procedures are available. These tools were specifically designed to address the needs of coastal engineers, and include features such as Survey Tools; Profile Loader; and Sediment Budget Analysis System for ArcView. This tool was used to analyze LIDAR data obtained after Hurricane Katrina, helping to quantify the changes that occurred on Dauphin Island.
eTools are hosted on the NOAA Coastal Services Center's Digital Coast site (see separate entry) along with numerous other coastal mapping and modeling tools.
