Impact of Climate Change on Road Infrastructure

This study assesses how climate change will affect Australia's road infrastructure on a region-by-region basis. The report downscales global climate projections to Australia's geographically diverse landscape. The report uses these regional climate impacts to determine how road infrastructure will be affected. Aside from the effects of heat on pavement performance and the threat of inundation due to sea-level rise, the report also emphasizes how climate change will affect human migration patterns. These changes in human migration will, in turn, affect traffic flow and demand for transportation resources.

Commissioned by the Austrialian government at that time (2004), the report is written by Austroads, Inc. Austroads is the association of Australian and New Zealand road transport and traffic authorities.
