Drafted by a mayor-appointed committee with extensive public involvement, the plan describes the actions that Whitefish can take to transition to a clean energy economy, reduce GHG emissions, and strategically build resilience to climate change impacts. The report outlines nearly 100 specific actions to implement 26 climate adaptation and mitigation strategies across six chapters for six focal sectors: City Buildings and Energy; Transportation and Land Use; Water and Wastewater; Forests and Watersheds; Consumption, Food and Waste; and School District.

California Sea-Level Rise Guidance - 2018 Update

The Ocean Protection Council’s 2018 update of the California Sea-Level Rise Guidance is designed in support of state agencies and local governments preparation for and adaption to sea-level rise (SLR). The report includes a step-by-step approach to SLR risk analysis, and incorporating these projections into planning, permitting, and investment decisions. Recommended adaptation strategies are given for priorities such as bolstering the resilience vulnerable communities and coastal habitats, and incorporating climate change impacts into project design and coastal planning.

Resilient Los Angeles - 100RC Resilience Strategy for Los Angeles, California

March 2, 2018

The City of Los Angeles, California - in partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) - released its first citywide Resilience Strategy. The plan describes nearly 100 adaptive actions for extreme events, disaster preparedness and resilient infrastructure, as well as pervasive issues such as social inequities, and climate change. Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti signed an executive directive in conjunction with the Strategy, that requires City departments to appoint Chief Resilience Officers, who will play a significant role in furthering the implementation of the 100 RC strategy.

Marin County, California Ocean Coast Sea-Level Rise Adaptation Report

Connecticut State Water Plan

In January 2018, the Connecticut Water Planning Council released the Connecticut State Water Plan to coordinate and improve water management in the state and address the impacts of climate change. The plan, designed for policy makers, planners, and regulators, was informed by consultation with stakeholders and drafted through consensus-based decision-making. The State Water Plan recommends policies and management strategies, prioritizes key issues for Connecticut’s water, and identify strategies for improved water management in the future.

Building on the 2009 California Adaptation Strategy and the 2014 Safeguarding California Plan, the 2018 report is directed by Assembly Bill 1482 (2015-16) to update the state’s adaptation strategy every three years.
