Delaware 2017 Coastal Inundation Maps
2017
Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) and the scientists from Delaware Coastal Programs have developed Sea Level Rise (SLR) inundation maps for the state as an online interactive tool. The maps show the possible impacts of inundation based on various SLR scenarios for Delaware’s waterways and watersheds. The maps are a representation of inundation based on local Mean Higher High Water (MHHW), which is the long-term average of the higher of the daily high tides.

Offered by NOAA's Office for Coastal Management on the Digital Coast website, this training program covers planning processes, current coastal development patterns and trends, natural hazard resiliency, and alternatives to conventional patterns of growth and development. The 2-day course is designed for local elected officials, developers, land use planners, business leaders, floodplain managers, hazard mitigation planners, realtors, emergency managers, community groups, members of civic organizations, coastal resource managers, and concerned citizens.

Costs of Defending Against Rising Sea Levels and Flooding in Mid-Atlantic Metropolitan Coastal Areas

This assessment identifies the potential costs of continually rising ocean levels and associated flooding, specifically on the mid-Atlantic Coast. Metropolitan areas are susceptible to detriment on many levels, such as severe property damage and loss of natural resources, from sea level rise and related inundation and extreme weather events. This paper addresses what it would cost to minimize or eliminate such damage.

Coastal Inundation Toolkit
The Coastal Inundation Toolkit was developed by the Digital Coast Partnership Group to help communities understand and address coastal inundation issues - where water covers what is normally dry land. Information and resources are organized into 5 stages: understanding coastal inundation, identifying community risks and vulnerabilities, creating inundation maps, communicating risks and vulnerability, and discovering what others are doing to address inundation. For each of these 5 areas, explanations and guidance are provided with links to the specific resources available from Digital Coast to support that specific step in the process, making this a user-friendly way to support assessments and planning for sea level rise and extreme weather events.

Oregon Shores Coastal Climate Change Adaptation Project
The Coastal Climate Change Adaptation Project (CCCAP) is a program of the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition. Oregon Shores is dedicated to preserving the natural communities, ecosystems and landscapes of the Oregon coast while conserving the public's access. The coalition pursues these ends through education, advocacy, and engaging citizens to keep watch over and defend the Oregon coast.

Coastal Adaptation to Sea level rise Tool (COAST)
Developed at the University of Southern Maine with funding from the EPA, the COAST program predicts damages from varying amounts of sea level rise (SLR) and storms of various intensities, and evaluates relative benefits and costs of response strategies. Although it is a technical tool, COAST can connect the technical with the social, political, and economic realities of local adaptation. Stakeholders are involved when they parametrize the model. Being entirely driven by the participants, the tool uses locally derived data on vulnerable assets such as real estate, economic activity, infrastructure, and natural resources.

The Likelihood of Shore Protection Data Set
2009
This site provides the GIS data that was used for the study "State and Local Governments Plan for Development of Most Land Vulnerable to Rising Sea Level along the U. S. Atlantic Coast," published by James Titus. The GIS data are available in three formats: grid, polygon shape files, and vector shape files. This data identifies shoreline development and areas that will be vulnerable to sea level rise. .

Charlotte Harbor Regional Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment

This vulnerability assessment was developed by the Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program and the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council. The report identifies the most significant vulnerabilities facing the Charlotte Harbor region related to drought, flood, hurricane severity, land area, habitats, biological cycles, and uncertainty in environmental models.

Town of Bowers Beach, Delaware Coastal Resiliency Planning
2009
With support from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), the Town of Bowers Beach is developing a Coastal Resiliency Action Plan to increase resiliency and reduce hazard vulnerability to the current and future effects of coastal storms and climate change. Bowers Beach currently experiences a number of coastal related problems including flooding of streets, episodic storm damage, coastal erosion, and other coastal hazard impacts.

Better-Defined Rights and Responsibilities in Marine Adaptation Policy

This issue brief discusses key elements of marine environment adaptation policy, including rights, resources, and governance. The brief recommends establishing better-defined rights and responsibilities for commercial and recreational fisheries in order to create an adaptation portfolio for marine and coastal resources. In addition, the report suggests establishing a broader ocean governance framework that includes comprehensive planning, allocation of dominant use zones and user rights within zones, and ecological standards.
