The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is an environmental action group with approximately 1. 3 million members and more than 350 lawyers, scientists, and other professionals. The NRDC has six stated priorities: 1) Curbing global warming and creating the clean energy future, 2) Reviving the world's oceans, 3) Defending endangered wildlife and wild places, 4) Protecting our health by preventing pollution, 5) Ensuring safe and sufficient water, and 6) Fostering sustainable communities. NRDC's global warming site provides information on the causes and effects of global climate change, and offers personal, corporate, scientific, and legislative solutions to the problem.

SF Adapt (San Francisco Climate Adaptation Working Group)

Under Mayor Edwin M. Lee's leadership, the San Francisco Department of the Environment, in partnership with the Public Utilities Commission and Planning Department, has convened an inter-agency Climate Adaptation Working Group also known as SF Adapt. Participating agencies include the City Administrators Office, the Port, San Francisco International Airport, the Department of Public Works, the Municipal Transportation Agency, the Department of Public Health, and the Department of Recreation and Parks.

New York City Mayor's Office of Recovery and Resiliency

The New York City Office of Recovery and Resiliency (ORR), part of the Mayor's Office, works with agencies, industry, and other stakeholders. It also works through partnerships to advance long-term plans for resilience and growth. This Office leads the City's efforts to implement recommendations laid out in A Stronger, More Resilient New York and One New York: The Plan for a Strong and Just City. The plan builds on the foundations of public collaboration and rigorous analysis. ORR will guide the City's work to: strengthen coastal defenses, upgrade buildings, protect infrastructure and critical services, and make homes, businesses, and neighborhoods safer and more vibrant.

100 Resilient Cities (100RC), pioneered by The Rockefeller Foundation, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping cities around the world become more resilient to the physical, social, and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century. 100RC supports the adoption and incorporation of a view of resilience that includes not just the shocks - earthquakes, fires, floods, etc. - but also the stresses that weaken the fabric of a city on a day to day or cyclical basis - high unemployment, endemic violence, chronic food and water shortages, etc.

 American Forests, the oldest national nonprofit conservation organization in the country, advocates for the protection and expansion of America’s forests.   This advocacy, guided by science, is to keep policymakers informed about how trees interact with climate, sequester carbon, manage water, and benefit cities - acknowledging that ecological services from trees and forests have real economic value. American Forests works in and advocates for federal, state, and urban forests, and sometimes beyond US borders as well.
