Sky Island Alliance

Sky Island Alliance (SIA) is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and restoration of the rich natural heritage of native species and habitats in the Sky Island region of the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. The Alliance works with volunteers, scientists, land owners, public officials, and government agencies to establish protected areas, restore healthy landscapes, and promote public appreciation of the region's unique biological diversity.

The South Dakota Office of Climatology strives to be the main resource for climate/weather data for South Dakota providing current and historic information for agriculture, industry, education and the public good. The South Dakota Office of Climate and Weather is housed at South Dakota State University in the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.

Southeastern Climate Consortium (SECC) - RISA

The SECC is a member of NOAA's Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program, which supports climate research for decision-makers and policy planners at a regional level. SECC aims to use advances in climate sciences to provide scientifically sound information and decision support tools for agricultural ecosystems, forests and other terrestrial ecosystems, and coastal ecosystems of the Southeastern USA. SECC has developed AgroClimate, a prototype web-based information and decision support system first made available to the public in 2004 [http://AgroClimate.

The Network provides reliable science and policy information to support decision makers in planning for and adapting to climate change in the region.

Southwest Fisheries Science Center - NOAA Fisheries Service

The Southwest Fisheries Science Center is the research arm of NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service in the Southwest Region. Center scientists conduct biological, economic, and oceanographic research on marine resources throughout the Pacific Ocean and in the Southern Ocean off Antarctica, to ensure that these populations remain healthy and at sustainable levels. Responsibilities include maintaining healthy fish stocks for commercial, recreational and subsistence fishing; conserving and recovering populations of protected species; sustaining ecosystem services; and coordinating with domestic and international organizations to implement and monitor fishery agreements and treaties.

State, Local and Tribal Leaders Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience

President Obama signed the Executive Order "Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change" on November 1st, 2013 establishing the Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience. The Task Force is directed to advise the Administration on how the Federal Government can respond to the needs of communities nationwide that are dealing with the impacts of climate change. The Task Force members include state, local and tribal leaders from across the country who will use their first-hand experiences in building climate preparedness and resilience in their communities to inform their recommendations to the Administration.
