STAR Climate Change Guide
June 28, 2017
The STAR Communities online Climate Change Guide was developed to help communities address climate change within their sustainability planning process. The guide utilizes the STAR Community Rating System to offer user-friendly guidance to advance local government efforts toward climate change mitigation and adaptation. The STAR Community Rating System is a leading framework and certification program in the U. S. for evaluating local sustainability through economic, environmental, and social performance measures.

King County Strategic Climate Action Plan - 2015 Update
November 2015
In November 2015 King County, Washington adopted an update to their Strategic Climate Action Plan, which includes the county's plans for both reducing greenhouse gas emissions and preparing for climate change impacts. Section 2 describes the county's adaptation plans for 12 focus areas: built environment (wastewater, roads and bridges, airport, county buildings and facilities) and planning and regional services (regional planning, public health, stormwater, floodplains, salmon recovery and rural programs, public transportation, environmental science and monitoring, and emergency management).

U.S. DOI Pacific Island Climate Science Center: Research Funding - Hawaii, Marshall Islands
December 18, 2014
The U. S. Department of the Interior (DOI) is funding research through the Pacific Islands Climate Science Center (CSC) on the Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) human migration dynamics in 2016. This project will examine the extent to which direct and indirect links between patterns of human migration and climate events can be identified. The researchers will examine migration trends and motivations, characterize changes that have taken place to local lands and ecosystems in the RMI, and use projections of climate change to understand which islands and communities may be at highest risk in the future.

California Water Action Plan - 2016 Update
January 14, 2016
In response to an extended and extreme period of drought across the state, the California Water Action Plan was first released by the administration of Governor Brown in January 2014 to provide a framework for implementing sustainable water management practices over five years (2014‐2019). The actions described in the plan will support sustainable water management in California by providing a more reliable water supply for farms and communities, restoring important wildlife habitat and species, and helping the state’s water systems and environment become more resilient to climate change.

2015 Preliminary Report and Recommendations from the Hawaii Climate Change and Health Working Group
December 2015
The Hawaiʻi Climate Change and Health Working Group was initially convened in 2015 to help the State consider and plan for the impacts of climate change on population-based human health and well-being. The Working Group has developed some preliminary findings and recommendations for policy maker consideration, which are provided in this report.

California Climate Action Team Sea-Level Rise Guidance Document – for use by Caltrans and other State Agencies
March 2013
The State of California Sea-Level Rise Guidance Document was developed by the Coastal and Ocean Working Group of the California Climate Action Team (CO-CAT) to provide guidance for incorporating sea-level rise (SLR) projections into planning and decision-making in California. The guidance provides ranges of SLR for all California agencies, including the Department of Transportation (CalTrans), to be used for risk-based scenario planning and assessments, such as long term transportation planning and vulnerability assessments.

Identifying and Overcoming Barriers to Climate Change Adaptation in San Francisco Bay: Results from Case Studies
July 2012
This white paper from the California Energy Commission's California Climate Change Center, examines five case studies from the San Francisco Bay region (Hayward, San Francisco, Santa Clara and Marin Counties, and the regional adaptation process) to identify the ongoing adaptation processes, the climate adaptation barriers encountered by local government entities, and further develop a diagnostic framework for managing these barriers. Relevant data were collected through key informant interviews, public documents, observation of and/or participation in public meetings, and a statewide survey.
