This website provides information on the heat island effect, its impacts, and the strategies that communities can take to reduce urban temperatures. Look under the "Where You Live" section to see specific strategies and initiatives implemented by states and localities. Strategies fall into four primary categories: cool roofs, cool pavement, green roofs, and urban landscaping. The USFS Climate Change Resource Center (CCRC) is a reference website for resource managers and decision makers who need information and tools to address climate change - regarding both mitigation and adaptation - in planning and implementing projects. The website offers educational information, including basic science modules that explain climate and climate impacts, decision-support models, maps, simulations, case studies, and numerous toolkits and publications.

California Climate Change Portal

The California Climate Change Portal is a virtual research and information website for climate change mitigation and adaptation resources and information pertinent to the state of California. Information from the California Energy Commission's Climate Change Program Office, the PIER Program's climate change research unit, and other state agencies is combined and represented through the portal,  including the impacts of climate change on California and the state's policies relating to global warming.

Santa Clara Valley Water District Climate Change Portal

This web portal allows users to search for reports and other technical literature on the subject of climate change. Although focused on the Santa Clara Valley in California, the portal draws from state, local, and national reports from across the country and is thus useful to state and local governments across the country. Users can search for reports based on topics (including adaptation), date, and keyword. There are also special links to reports and websites on sea-level rise, groundwater, and climate change.

Energy and Environment Legislation Tracking Device

The National Conference of State Legislatures tracks state energy and environment legislation that has been introduced in the fifty states and the District of Columbia. Both climate change mitigation and adaptation searches are supported. The tracker contains bills that have been enacted, as well as those that are pending or have failed. NCSL indicates their database is updated and summarized bi-weekly. .

Caribbean climate adaptation – The role of government

March 2017

The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) has been researching, advocating and publishing on climate change adaptation policy in the Caribbean for over ten years. Some of their findings and resulting resources are presented on this CDKN Caribbean climate adaptation website about the role of government - described as a “knowledge package. ” This package which includes research papers, case studies, and decision-support tools, is the first of four planned knowledge packages on climate change in the Caribbean.

FloodHelpNY - New York City, New York

2016

The Center for NYC Neighborhoods and the Governor's Office of Storm Recovery in New York launched an $8 million resiliency program in New York City for low- and moderate-income homeowners in 2016. To support this program, they created a free interactive website which provides NYC homeowners with personalized information on flood risks and flood insurance rates. One goal of the program is to connect low- and middle-income homeowners with engineers in select coastal communities to provide resiliency audits so they can reduce their risk to future floods and lower their insurance rates.
