Transportation and Climate Change Clearinghouse (TCCC)

The Department of Transportation's (DOT) Transportation and Climate Change Clearinghouse (TCCC) aims to serve as a one-stop source of information on transportation and climate change issues. It is intended for use by the transportation community, including all levels of government, private industry,  and non-profits, and provides a forum to share information, learn about new research, and understand practices and approaches that are being used to address the linkages between transportation and climate change.

Maryland Coastal Atlas

The Coastal Atlas is an online mapping and planning tool that allows state and local decision-makers to visually analyze and explore data for coastal and ocean planning activities. The site provides shoreline mapping data for shoreline and flood planning in Maryland. The maps are based on erosion, storm inundation and sea level rise data developed from fifty years of observations, and display future shoreline positions up to fifty years in the future. The data available through the Coastal Atlas includes physical characteristics, human uses and ecological resources.

NCAR Nested Regional Climate Model

The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) has created computer models to study many aspects of atmospheric and earth system phenomena. The Nested Regional Climate Model (NRCM) combines the strengths of NCAR's Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model and NCAR's Community Climate System Model (CCSM) into an instrument that will improve the understanding and prediction of regional climate variability and change. In particular, embedding WRF within CCSM will allow scientists to resolve processes that occur at the regional scale, as well as the influence of those processes on the large-scale climate, thereby improving the fidelity of climate change simulations and their utility for local and regional planning.

FEMA Community Assistance Program - State Support Services Element

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA's) Community Assistance Program - State Support Services Element (CAP-SSSE) provides, through a State grant mechanism, a means to ensure that communities participating in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) are achieving flood loss reduction goals of the NFIP. CAP-SSSE funds are to be used by States to provide technical assistance to NFIP communities, to evaluate community implementation/ performance of NFIP floodplain management activities, and to build State and community floodplain management expertise and capacity.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Snow Survey and Water Supply Forecasting

The Snow Survey and Water Supply Forecasting program provides western states and Alaska with information on future water supplies (January - June for the current year). USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service field staff collect and analyze data on depth and water equivalent of the snowpack at more than 1,200 mountain sites and estimate annual water availability, spring runoff, and summer streamflows. Individuals, organizations, and state and federal agencies use these forecasts for decisions relating to agricultural production, fish and wildlife management, municipal and industrial water supply, urban development, flood control, recreation power generation, and water quality management.
