Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium

The Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium (MASGC) develops research, education, and outreach programs, and focuses on one the following priority areas: 1) Healthy Coastal Ecosystems, 2) Safe and Sustainable Seafood, 3) Sustainable Coastal Communities, and 4) Hazard Resilience in Coastal Communities. The mission of the MASGC is to enhance the sustainable use and conservation of ocean and coastal resources to benefit the economy and environment in Alabama and Mississippi. To fulfill this mission, MASGC commits to interdisciplinary environmental scholarship and community-based natural resources management so that coastal and marine resources are conserved and managed for a sustainable economy and environment.

Missouri Climate Center

The primary functions of the Missouri Climate Center are: 1) develop advanced databases containing atmospheric conditions, climate variations, and ecosystem changes in the State of Missouri, 2) produce value-added products from available weather data and disseminate the products to statewide users, 3) continuously monitor and document the climate change, and 4) apply the atmospheric research tools, e. g. , statistical analysis and evaluation and atmospheric/climate modeling, to assess and predict the climate change and its effects on regional atmospheric environment and ecosystem response.

The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) provides the university science and teaching community with the tools, facilities, and support required to perform innovative research. Through NCAR, scientists gain access to high-performance computational and observational facilities, such as 'supercomputers', aircraft and radar - resources researchers need to improve human understanding of atmospheric and Earth system processes. MMSD is a regional government agency that aims to protect Lake Michigan. They provide water reclamation and flood management services for about 1. 1 million people in 28 communities in the Greater Milwaukee Area. They serve 411 square miles that cover all, or segments of, six watersheds.   Established by state law, the District is governed by 11 commissioner with taxing authority. .

Maryland and Delaware Climate Change Education, Assessment and Research (MADE CLEAR) Program

The Maryland and Delaware Climate Change Education, Assessment and Research (MADE CLEAR) program brings together scientists and educators to provide teachers with tools and resources on climate change science and impacts so that they are more prepared to teach these complex subjects in the classrooms. The program’s main focus is on providing a support system for middle and high school teachers, but it also engages universities, state departments of education, and educators from natural resource agencies, museums, and aquariums.

Part of the Bipartisan Policy Center, the National Commission on Energy Policy (NCEP) - a bipartisan group of 20 of the nation's leading energy experts representing the highest ranks of industry, government, academia, labor, consumer and environmental protection - has been advising Congress, the Executive Branch, States and other policymakers regarding long-term U. S. policy. The Commission identifies and addresses the political and analytical barriers that have thwarted previous efforts at energy policy reform and conducts extensive outreach to government, business, NGO and other communities.

NCSL's Climate Change service provides the latest science and policy information around the country, and releases regular reports on these issues.
