Organization

Missouri Climate Center

The primary functions of the Missouri Climate Center are: 1) develop advanced databases containing atmospheric conditions, climate variations, and ecosystem changes in the State of Missouri, 2) produce value-added products from available weather data and disseminate the products to statewide users, 3) continuously monitor and document the climate change, and 4) apply the atmospheric research tools, e. g. , statistical analysis and evaluation and atmospheric/climate modeling, to assess and predict the climate change and its effects on regional atmospheric environment and ecosystem response.

Organization

USGS Missouri Water Science Center

The USGS Missouri Water Science Center provides water-resource information on Missouri's rivers, streams and streamflow conditions, ground water, surface water, water quality, and many water-related other topics. The center also has publications, data sheets, projects, and scientific reports on a range of hydrological topics.

Organization

U.S. Forest Service Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center

The mission of the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center (EFETAC) is an interdisciplinary resource that is actively developing new technology and tools to anticipate and respond to emerging eastern forest threats. EFETAC researchers work with other scientists nationally as well as with a variety of Federal, State, and local government agencies, universities, and non-governmental partners to address forest threats. EFETAC has many projects and collaborations related to climate change which can be accessed on their website.

Organization

USFS Southern Research Station

The Southern Research Station of the U. S. Forest Service (USFS) serves 13 southern states. The station has conducted studies on temperate and tropical forests, forest resources, and forest products. These studies provide a wealth of long-term datasets and conclusions on the dynamics of tree plantations and natural stands, watersheds, and wildlife habitats. Research work units of the SRS, such as the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center, have ongoing climate change related studies and publications.

Organization

Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center

The Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center is one of eight regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CASCs) under the Department of the Interior (DOI) managed by the U. S. Geological Survey's (USGS) National Climate Adaptation Science Center. The mission of the Centers and National CASC is to "deliver science to help fish, wildlife, water, land, and people adapt to a changing climate. " CASCs provide the tools that managers need to develop and implement strategies that address the impacts of climate change on natural and cultural resources.

Organization

USFS Northern Research Station

One of five regional units that make up the U. S. Forest Service (USFS) Research and Development organization, the Northern Research Station (NRS) maintains 21 research locations throughout a 20-state territory. The station develops management strategies for plants, soil, air, water, and wildlife to meet the needs of people and communities. NRS scientists are involved in research to understand the processes and extent of global climate change and their probable/possible effects on forest ecosystems.

Organization

Midwestern Regional Climate Center

The Midwestern Regional Climate Center (MRCC) is one of six regional climate centers in the U. S. managed by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The MRCC is a cooperative program between NCDC and the Illinois State Water Survey - a division of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.   The MRCC serves the nine-state Midwest region (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin). MRCC research helps explain climate and its impacts on the Midwest, and provide practical solutions to specific climate problems.

Organization

Department of the Interior (DOI): Eastern Tallgrass Prairie & Big Rivers Landscape Conservation Cooperative(LCC)

The Eastern Tallgrass Prairie & Big Rivers Landscape Conservation Cooperative (ETPBR LCC) is one of 21 LCCs established by Secretarial Order No. 3289, which focus on on-the-ground strategic conservation efforts at the landscape level. LCCs are management-science partnerships that inform integrated resource-management actions addressing climate change and other stressors within and across landscapes linking science and conservation delivery.   They support biological planning, conservation design, prioritizing and coordinating research, and designing species inventory and monitoring programs.

Organization

Department of the Interior(DOI): Gulf Coast Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative(LCC)

The Gulf Coast Plains and Ozarks Landscape Conservation Cooperative (GCPO LCC) is one of 21 LCCs established by Secretarial Order No. 3289, which focus on on-the-ground strategic conservation efforts at the landscape level. LCCs are management-science partnerships that inform integrated resource-management actions addressing climate change and other stressors within and across landscapes, linking science and conservation delivery.

Resource

TreeFlow

TreeFlow is an online resource for tree-ring reconstructions of stream flow and climate. By providing a longer window into the past, tree-ring reconstructions describe the natural variability of climate (precipitation, drought) more completely than gaged records. While projected changes in precipitation may be uncertain in some area, projections for temperature changes due to climate change are highly useful and relevant when added to the range of natural flow variability seen in the reconstructions.
