Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Program
The Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) is one of five Working Groups of the Arctic Council. The primary function of AMAP is to advise the governments of the eight Arctic countries (Canada, Denmark/Greenland, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Russia, Sweden and the United States) on matters relating to threats to the Arctic region from pollution, and associated issues including climate change.

USACE Kivalina, Alaska Relocation Master Plan

The purpose of this report in 2006 was to provide residents and stakeholders with the information necessary to make an informed decision regarding the best solution for the community of Kivalina facing the impacts of sea-level rise. This master plan from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) provides preliminary facility designs, costs, schedule, and a decision matrix for the community of Kivalina and its relocation stakeholders. The current state of the community is discussed in detail including the physical setting of the planning area, descriptions of 'living resources' such as endangered species and habitats, as well as the culture, history and demography of the community.

Alaska HCR 30: Created the Alaska Climate Impact Commission (2006)
May 2006
In May 2006, the Alaska Legislature adopted House Concurrent Resolution 30, creating an Alaska Climate Impact Commission. The Commission was charged with assessing the impacts and costs of climate change to Alaska and developing recommendations for preventative measures potentially implemented by Alaskan communities and governments. The eleven-member commission released its final report in March 2008.

The currently participating bureaus are the Bureau of Land Management, Minerals Management Service, National Park Service, and the U.

Denali Commission
"In Alaska, President Obama designated the Denali Commission as the lead Federal point of contact for Alaska Native coastal villages affected by coastal erosion, flooding, and related problems driven by climate change. The Commission hosts the first-ever catalog of grants and technical assistance available to Alaska Native villages. To build capacity in rural villages, the Commission is transforming the catalog to make it more accessible for village administrators and has funded project managers or project coordinators in each of the four most imminently threatened communities.

LCCs are management-science partnerships that inform integrated resource-management actions addressing climate change and other stressors within and across landscapes. They are designed to provide connections between researchers and managers seeking to address large landscape and seascape concerns.

North Pacific Fisheries Management Council
The North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC) is one of eight regional councils established by the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act in 1976 (which has been renamed the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act) to oversee management of the nation's fisheries. With jurisdiction over the 900,000 square mile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) off Alaska, the Council has primary responsibility for groundfish management in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) and Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands (BSAI), including cod, pollock, flatfish, mackerel, sablefish, and rockfish species harvested mainly by trawlers, hook and line longliners and pot fishermen.

SNAP is a collaborative network of the University of Alaska, state, federal, and local agencies, and NGOs. The primary products of the network are (1) datasets and maps projecting future conditions for selected variables, and (2) rules and models that develop these projections, based on historical conditions and trends.
