Climate Solutions New England (CSNE) promotes collaboration and collective impact towards the goal of greater energy self-reliance and weather resilience that contribute to healthy, prosperous, and sustainable communities across New England.
The New Hampshire Sea Grant (NH Sea Grant) provides support, leadership and expertise for marine research, education and extension, and promotes the understanding, development, wise use and conservation of our ocean and coastal resources. NH Sea Grant research falls into four general areas: 1) Conservation and sustainable utilization of fisheries resources; 2) Sustainable aquaculture; 3) Coastal ecosystem and public health, and 4) Coastal communities and economics.
The New Hampshire State Climate Office (NHSCO) resides within the Department of Geography at the University of New Hampshire. The mission of the NHSCO is to the serve the citizens of New Hampshire by providing access to climatological data and information, conducting climate-related research that is relevant to the needs of the state and its residents, and serving as a focal point for climate education and outreach.
The USGS NH-VT Water Science Center provides current real-time data on streamflow, water quality, surface water, precipitation, and daily lake levels from sites throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. The center also has a number of reports covering ground water conditions, water levels in bedrock wells, estimated water withdrawals and return flows, flood studies, and other topics. With scientists, technicians, and support staff in the Pembroke, New Hampshire, and Montpelier, Vermont, offices, the Center works in cooperation with many Federal, State, and local agencies to evaluate the source, distribution, use, quantity, quality, and biology of water resources.
The mission of the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center (EFETAC) is an interdisciplinary resource that is actively developing new technology and tools to anticipate and respond to emerging eastern forest threats. EFETAC researchers work with other scientists nationally as well as with a variety of Federal, State, and local government agencies, universities, and non-governmental partners to address forest threats. EFETAC has many projects and collaborations related to climate change which can be accessed on their website.
The New Hampshire Coastal Adaptation Workgroup (NHCAW) is a collaboration of 24 organizations working to help communities in New Hampshire’s Seacoast area prepare for the effects of extreme weather events and other effects of long-term climate change.
Encroaching Tides: How Sea Level Rise and Tidal Flooding Threaten U.S. East and Gulf Coast Communities over the Next 30 Years
This report from the Union of Concerned Scientists describes the threat of tidal flooding in the East Coast and Gulf regions and offers steps that communities can take to adapt. The report makes the case that tidal flooding, currently just considered a nuisance, could become a daily or weekly occurrence, redefining how and where people along the coast “live, work, play, and move through their daily lives. " Data was collected in 52 locations to provide projections for sea level rise and tidal flooding in the region until 2045.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) conducted an assessment of the vulnerability of the state’s transportation system, and this report outlines the results, and includes an action plan of adaptive strategies for the department to address climate-related impacts. NHDOT assets, programs, policies, and activities (APPA) that may be impacted by climate change are discussed. The report also describes NHDOT’s goals to increase the resilience of the state’s transportation infrastructure, and the department's preparedness for natural disasters and climate-related impacts.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services’ Drinking Water and Groundwater Bureau (DWGB) developed this action plan to guide the Bureau’s activities in building resilience to climate change impacts in community water systems across the state. The plan identifies examples of adaptation measures for community water systems as well as priority action items DWGB will take with regard to policies, operations, regulations, education/outreach, and technical assistance to help drinking water systems prepare for and respond to climate impacts.

This report summarizes the work of two NOAA-funded graduate fellows research on community-level coastal flood management and climate change adaptation best practices throughout the North Atlantic region (Virginia to Maine). This year-long Sea Grant partnership with NOAA’s North Atlantic Regional Team (NART) has identified low-cost, innovative ways that coastal communities are addressing climate change and related coastal hazard management best practices at the local level. The team looked at studies, laws, policies, outreach tools, and infrastructure investments that were voluntarily adopted by 34 local municipalities, and developed a report to share this information more broadly.
