Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy

The Gulf Coast Center for Law and Policy (GCCLP) is a non-profit public interest law firm and justice center focusing equity and justice in the Gulf South states (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Texas). GCCLP provides trainings, programs, and services focusing on climate justice, migrants rights, land sovereignty, and economic opportunity for those communities that are on the frontlines of climate change.

Gulf of Mexico Alliance

The Gulf of Mexico Alliance is a partnership of the states of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, with the goal of significantly increasing regional collaboration to enhance the ecological and economic health of the Gulf of Mexico. The Alliance has identified six priority issues including water quality, habitat conservation and restoration, ecosystem integration and assessment, nutrients and nutrient impacts, coastal community resilience, and environmental education.

Gulf of Mexico Climate Change Adaptation Inventory

June 24, 2011

The Climate Change Adaptation Inventory is a compilation of climate adaptation activities and research initiatives taking place at the federal, state, and local levels in communities adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico. The inventory focuses specifically on those projects and efforts that address climate change or sea level rise. Research activities captured by the inventory are limited to those projects that have applications to coastal communities, particularly planning and development, land management, and socioeconomic initiatives.

Effectively Addressing Climate Change Through Adaptation for the Energy Gulf Coast

This presentation provides a synthesis of the analysis conducted on the economic impacts of climate change on the Gulf Coast. The research provides current and projected costs of storm surges, sea level rise, and wind related damage over the next 20 years. The risks, across numerous asset types, such as on-shore and off-shore oil and gas structures, and geographic areas are evaluated. Potential costs and benefits of numerous possible adaptation measures are presented. .

Climate Justice Alliance

The Climate Justice Alliance (CJA) is a collaborative of more than 35 community-based and movement support organizations uniting frontline communities to forge a scalable and socio-economically just transition away from an extractive economy towards local living economies to address the root causes of climate change. CJA is rooted in Indigenous, African American, Latino, Asian Pacific Islander, and working-class white communities throughout the US. CJA seeks to strengthen relationships between community-based organizations, environmentalists, labor unions, food sovereignty/sustainable agriculture groups, and other sectors of society.

Southern Regional Climate Center

The Southern Regional Climate Center (SRCC) is one of six regional climate centers in the U. S. managed by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The mission of the SRCC is to increase the use and availability of climate information in the southern region of the U. S. that comprises the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. SRCC personnel work closely with scientists from other regional and federal climate centers to enhance climate services and programs that provide a regional structure for climate applications.

Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP) - RISA

Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP) is a member of NOAA's Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program, which supports climate research for decision-makers and policy planners at a regional level. SCIPP represents Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi, investigating major climate hazards of the region.   The program provides education and outreach, collaboratively develops an all-hazards assessment tool, and actively engages community-level decision makers to determine hazard planning and climate data gaps.
