Climate Change Tree Atlas

The Climate Change Tree Atlas helps determine current and future suitable habitat and distribution of 134 tree species in the Eastern United States based on current climate and projected suitable habitat for the year 2100. The Atlas provides detailed information on environmental characteristics defining these distributions for each species, and can be used to develop large-scale projections of species responses to climate change. By taking current distributions of tree habitat in the U. S.

TreeFlow

TreeFlow is an online resource for tree-ring reconstructions of stream flow and climate. By providing a longer window into the past, tree-ring reconstructions describe the natural variability of climate (precipitation, drought) more completely than gaged records. While projected changes in precipitation may be uncertain in some area, projections for temperature changes due to climate change are highly useful and relevant when added to the range of natural flow variability seen in the reconstructions.

Coastal Inundation Toolkit

The Coastal Inundation Toolkit was developed by the Digital Coast Partnership Group to help communities understand and address coastal inundation issues - where water covers what is normally dry land. Information and resources are organized into 5 stages: understanding coastal inundation, identifying community risks and vulnerabilities, creating inundation maps, communicating risks and vulnerability, and discovering what others are doing to address inundation. For each of these 5 areas, explanations and guidance are provided with links to the specific resources available from Digital Coast to support that specific step in the process, making this a user-friendly way to support assessments and planning for sea level rise and extreme weather events.

Toward a Climate-Resilient Austin

May 1, 2014

This report initiates the City’s planning process for climate adaptation and resiliency for Austin, Texas; which was commissioned by the Austin City Council. Drawing on climate projections for Central Texas, the report includes a preliminary analysis of Austin’s climate-related threats and potential impacts to the operations and assets of nine city departments. Final recommendations are provided, focused on improving climate projections and vulnerability assessments, integrating resilience strategies within departmental planning, and coordinating with regional partners.

Houston-Galveston, Texas: Observed Trends and Projected Future Conditions

Literature Synthesis on Climate Change Implications for Water and Environmental Resources

This report synthesizes regional studies on the implications of climate change on Bureau of Reclamation operations and activities in 17 Western States. Specifically, the report addresses past and projected effects of climate change on hydrology and water resources. The report outlines implications for the key resource areas the Bureau considers in its planning processes for each of the Bureau's five regions: Pacific Northwest, Mid-Pacific, Lower Colorado, Upper Colorado, and Great Plains.

Analysis of Drought Impacts on Electricity Production in the Western and Texas Interconnections of the United States

Coastal Vulnerability Assessment of the Northern Gulf of Mexico to Sea-Level Rise and Coastal Change

July 2010

This report, prepared by the U. S. Geologic Survey, uses an index to assess the vulnerability of the Gulf Coast - from Galveston, Texas to Panama City, Florida.   The Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) applied is based on six factors that influence the risk sea-level rise poses:  geomorphology, historical shoreline change rate, regional coastal slope, relative sea-level change, mean significant wave height, and mean tidal range.   CVI data can be used in at least two ways: (1) as a way of identifying areas where physical changes are most likely to occur as sea-level rises, and (2) as a planning tool for managing and protecting resources along the Northern Gulf of Mexico.
