Indicators of Climate Change in California

This report presents 36 indicators tracking trends in climate change and climate impacts on California's environment and people. Form the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), this third edition report updates the 2009 and 2013 version.  The report is a resource intended for decision-makers, scientists, educators, and the public - and brings scientific analysis to inform climate mitigation and adaptation decision-making.

PREPdata - Partnership for Resilience and Preparedness climate datasets

2018

PREPdata (at www.prepdata.org) is an open-source, map-based platform designed to support climate adaptation decision-makers in visualizing a region’s vulnerability or resiliency to climate change through localized climate, physical, and socioeconomic datasets. The Partnership for Resilience and Preparedness (PREP), co-led by World Resources Institute and Future Earth, developed the tool.

OneNYC 2018 Progress Report

May 2018

One New York: The Plan for a Strong and Just City (OneNYC), is the City’s strategic plan for population growth, sustainability, equity, and climate resilience. In 2015, New York City committed to becoming the most sustainable big city in the world, and a global leader in mitigating and adapting to climate change with this plan.  The 2018 Progress Report details many achievements across all categories of OneNYC in the last three years, including a number of projects and strategies aimed at climate resilience.

Minnesota Climate Adaptation Framework and Menu of Climate Adaptation Strategies

May 2018

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is working with the organization paleBLUEdot and other agencies to provide assessment services and funding for 23 cities throughout Minnesota to identify climate-vulnerable populations, resilience indicators, and strategies to reduce climate risks. The report includes a climate adaptation Goals for local communities across Minnesota, as well as a comprehensive list of adaptation strategies.   The project initiates the development of adaptation implementation plans for these communities to conserve resources, prioritize cost and benefit balanced strategies, and protect the most vulnerable populations from climate change impacts.

California Coastal Conservancy Climate Ready Grant Program

2014 - 2018

The California Coastal Conservancy’s Climate Ready program focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting coastal resources, and preparing communities along the California coast and within the San Francisco Bay for the current and future impacts of climate change. Climate Ready grants fund nature-based solutions for climate adaptation. These grants also seek to support projects located in and benefiting disadvantaged communities. The Coastal Conservancy has $3. 8 million available for the 5th round of funding in 2018.

Financing Climate Resilience: Mobilizing Resources and Incentives to Protect Boston from Climate Risks

April 2018

Financing Climate Resilience was developed by the University of Massachusetts Sustainable Solutions Lab to help the City of Boston identify proactive strategies for financing investments in flood protection and other climate-related risks. Maryland HB 1350/ SB 1006 - Sea Level Rise Inundation and Coastal Flooding - Construction, Adaptation, and Mitigation

April 5, 2018

Effective July 1, 2018, Maryland will expand and strengthen its "Coast Smart" siting and design criteria to better manage sea level rise and improve coastal adaptation efforts. The legislation also requires the state to establish a plan to adapt to saltwater intrusion, and to build criteria for hazard mitigation funding for sea level rise and coastal flooding. Additionally, by July 1, 2019, local jurisdictions that experience nuisance flooding must submit a plan to address this climate impact.

Climate Change in the Sierra Nevada: California's Water Future

From UCLA’s Center for Climate Science, this report describes the findings on how climate change will impact the Sierra Nevada snowpack, the water cycle in the Sierra, and the larger implications for California's water resources. The project primarily focused on changes in climate averages: average springtime temperatures, snowpack at April 1st, and timing of runoff.
