Impact of Climate Change on Road Infrastructure

2004

This study assesses how climate change will affect Australia's road infrastructure on a region-by-region basis. The report downscales global climate projections to Australia's geographically diverse landscape. The report uses these regional climate impacts to determine how road infrastructure will be affected. Aside from the effects of heat on pavement performance and the threat of inundation due to sea-level rise, the report also emphasizes how climate change will affect human migration patterns.

Community Climate System Model (CCSM)

The Community Climate System Model (CCSM) is a coupled climate model for simulating the climate system of the earth. Composed of four separate models simultaneously simulating the atmosphere of the earth, ocean, land surface and sea-ice, and one central coupler component, the CCSM allows researchers to conduct fundamental research into the past, present and future climate states of the earth.

A Climate Action Plan for Maine 2004

December 1, 2004

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection wrote the Climate Action Plan to meet the requirements of a state law passed in 2003 (PL 237). This was a first step by Maine towards meeting emissions reductions targets they committed to as part of a resolution by New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers. The plan concludes with fifty-four recommended actions required to ensure legislative targets are met. While the Climate Action Plan is focused on mitigation, many of the potential options for reducing emissions related to agriculture and forestry offer some adaptive co-benefits.
