North Carolina Climate and Health Profile: Building Resilience Against Climate Effects

North Carolina is one of 16 states who have been funded by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Building Resilience Against Climate Effects (BRACE) grant program since 2010. As part of the BRACE framework, this Climate and Health Profile report describes the leading climate-related risks and their associated public health impacts in the state.

2015

The Community Resilience Planning Handbook offers the building blocks for creating individual Community Resilience Plans by providing resources and best practices for resilience planning. The handbook is designed to help communities assess their vulnerability to climate change, evaluate social sensitivity and risks, determine current adaptive strengths, engage in scenario planning around identified vulnerabilities, and prioritize vulnerability focus areas for resource allocation.

Launched in 2015, this tool provides users the ability to access more than 150 spatial data sets, and to make and share their own customized maps.

The Agreement on Climate Transformation 2015 (ACT 2015) is a consortium of the world’s top climate experts from developing and developed countries that have come together to "catalyze discussion and build momentum toward reaching a global climate agreement at the forthcoming UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) summit in 2015. " This report shares ACT 2015’s research on key elements of the 2015 climate agreement. The paper explores some of the primary issues relating to climate adaptation, incorporating loss and damage (L&D), and outlines options for addressing them in the 2015 agreement.
