This tool helps determine suitable habitat for 147 bird species in the Eastern U. S. (east of the 100th meridian), based on current and projected climate scenarios. This information can then be used to develop large-scale projections of species' responses to climate change. By taking current distributions of bird habitat in the U. S. , and applying a variety of climate scenarios, land managers can predict which areas will be suitable for which species. Information is presented in the following forms: maps of current suitable habitat; maps of suitable habitat projections for the year 2100 under different climate scenarios; and statistical tables providing quantitative estimates of species habitat changes.

This study, produced by the California Climate Change Center, evaluates the impact of climate change on California’s forest resources by developing a case study for a mixed conifer forest in the northern Sierra Nevada. The research utilized data-driven modeling tools to project the effect of a changing climate on forest growth, forest yield, and tree mortality.

Changing temperature and precipitation patterns and increasing concentrations of atmospheric CO2 are likely to drive significant changes in natural and modified forests. This article provides a scientific assessment of the impacts of climate change on forests worldwide giving significant attention to forests in the U. S. This review is focused on publications that discuss the changes in commercial forestry, excluding the ecosystem functions of forests and non-timber forest products. The report concentrates on potential direct and indirect impacts of climate change on the forest industry, including economic impacts, the projections of future trends in commercial forestry, the possible role of biofuels, and changes in supply and demand.

The Climate Change Tree Atlas helps determine current and future suitable habitat and distribution of 134 tree species in the Eastern United States based on current climate and projected suitable habitat for the year 2100. This article offers a conceptual framework for managing forested ecosystems given the uncertainty of the impacts of climate change. The article addresses both mitigation and adaptation strategies. The adaptation strategies presented include resistance options (forestall impacts and protect highly valued resources), resilience options (improve the capacity of ecosystems to return to desired conditions after disturbance), and response options (facilitate transition of ecosystems from current to new conditions).

This multi-dimensional report from the Great Lakes Water Quality Board of the International Joint Commission is written for a cross-section of science, business, resource management, and policy experts in the Great Lakes region. Section 2 provides an overview of climate change and variability projections for the region, including air temperature, precipitation, evapotranspiration, water supply, water levels, ice cover, and water quality. Projected impacts are then provided in Section 3 pertaining to the following sectors: human health, ecosystems and biodiversity, agriculture, fish and wildlife, forests, and recreation and tourism.
