Climate Vulnerability Monitor

2012

The Climate Vulnerability Monitor (2nd Ed. ) measures the global impact of climate change and the carbon economy at a national level. It calculates and compares the vulnerability for 184 countries in four areas of impact (environmental disasters, habitat change, health impact and industry stress) using 34 climate and carbon related indicators. The report is the second to be issued by an ongoing international research program on climate-related vulnerability mandated to the independent humanitarian and development research organization, DARA.

Managing Changing Landscapes in the Southwestern United States

January 2011

This regional assessment examines the impacts of temperature change from 1951-2006 on natural resources in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. It documents that warming has already affected habitats, watersheds, and species of conservation concern in the Southwest, by influencing the timing of seasonal events or amplifying the impacts of natural disturbances such as wildfire and drought.

The Future is Now: an Update on Climate Change Science Impacts and Response Options for California

May 2009

The purpose of this report is to highlight climatic changes that have already occurred and impacts that are happening in Califormia now, affecting public health, natural systems, and the economy. Chapter 3 provides evidence attributing past and current observations of climate change to direct human causes, such as emissions of greenhouse gases. Chapter 4 examines California’s climate under different emissions scenarios, including a scenario of drastically reduced emissions, and summarizes the most current scientific understanding of the influence of future climate change on California’s economy and ecosystems.
