USGCRP Federal Adaptation Resources website

February 2014

In February 2014, the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) launched a new website featuring an easy-to-access collection of resources to help Federal agencies with planning and implementation for climate change adaptation. Resources include relevant executive orders and strategic plans, technical reports on adaptation research, guidance and frameworks for adapting to climate change, and summary documents for decision-makers who need only an overview.

Rhode Island Climate Change Collaborative "Waves of Change" website

2014

Researchers from the University of Rhode Island (URI) and the Rhode Island Sea Grant formed the Rhode Island Climate Change Collaborative. Experts in natural science, behavior science and communications are collectively engaging in research and outreach to prepare Rhode Islanders for climate change, and build resilient communities. The immediate goal of the Collaborative is to share information with the public about climate change impacts on the state and what adaptation options are available, through a comprehensive website.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hosts a searchable website for climate change impacts and adaptation information and resources. From the home page, impacts and adaptation information is organized by region or by sector, as well as additional adaptation resources are provided - categorized as adaptation overview, federal and EPA programs, and tools for public officials.

NOAA's State of the Coast (SOTC)

NOAA’s State of the Coast  (SOTC) is a website that provides information about coastal communities, coastal ecosystems, and the coastal economy, and about how climate change might impact the coast.  The site offers case studies, management success stories, reports, fact sheets and more detailed statistics through interactive indicator visualizations.

Connecticut Adaptation Resource Toolkit (CART)

2012

The Connecticut Adaptation Resource Toolkit (CART) was developed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) and ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability USA (ICLEI USA) - with funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Climate Ready Estuaries program.  CART was developed to help local government staff, committee members and active participants in Connecticut have instant access to climate change adaptation resources.

Publications of the Ecological Society of America

The Ecological Society of America (ESA) has over 10,000 members who conduct research, teach, and use ecological science to address environmental issues. The ESA develops a suite of publications, from peer-reviewed journals to newsletters, fact sheets and teaching resources. 'Publications of the ESA' disseminates the most significant results of ecological research. Approaches employed in these studies include: theoretical, modeling, analytical, experimental, observational, synthetic, historical, and descriptive approaches, including those of allied natural and social sciences.

Digital Coast

The Digital Coast is a collaborative effort of organizations committed to providing data and information, tools, and training resources to help address timely coastal issues - including land use, coastal conservation, hazards, marine spatial planning, and climate change. NOAA's Coastal Services Center is maintaining the Digital Coast website which provides access to all the resources being developed and contributed by academic institutions, public and private sector entities.  This curated collection of coastal and ocean data and tools are directed at decision makers, practitioners, and technicians.

EPA Climate Change and Water Website

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Water Climate Change page provides links to resources that can be used to learn more about current climate-related activities within the agency and beyond. One key document provided on the site is the National Water Program Strategy: Response to Climate Change which provides an overview of the likely effects of climate change on water resources and the nation's clean water and safe drinking water programs.
