USACE Kivalina, Alaska Relocation Master Plan

June 2006

The purpose of this report in 2006 was to provide residents and stakeholders with the information necessary to make an informed decision regarding the best solution for the community of Kivalina facing the impacts of sea-level rise. This master plan from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) provides preliminary facility designs, costs, schedule, and a decision matrix for the community of Kivalina and its relocation stakeholders. The current state of the community is discussed in detail including the physical setting of the planning area, descriptions of 'living resources' such as endangered species and habitats, as well as the culture, history and demography of the community.

This 2007 report provides an overview of King County’s plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to anticipate and adapt to projected climate change impacts. Major accomplishments in 2007 include the development of a vulnerable facilities inventory for divisions responsible for long-term asset management, the adoption of the King County Flood Control Zone District, and discussions of how to prepare for intense storm events and identify flood system co-benefits for public health and environmental quality.

Confronting Climate Change in the U.S. Northeast: Science, Impacts, and Solutions

This report describes the changing climate for the U. S. Northeast region and associated climate change impacts. Both high and low emission scenarios were analyzed to assess the impacts of two very different future climates on the region's coastal areas, marine fisheries, forests, agriculture, winter recreation, and human health sectors. Mitigation and adaptation policy options relevant to Northeast are presented, and the report includes a discussion on how to prioritize adaptation strategies.

Florida Executive Order 07-128 - Governor's Action Team on Energy and Climate Change

July 13, 2007

This executive order by then Governor Crist established the Governor's Action Team on Energy and Climate Change to develop a comprehensive Energy and Climate Change Action Plan. The order called the Governor's Action Team to submit recommendations for mitigation by November 2007 and adaptation strategies to "combat adverse impacts to society, public health, the economy and natural communities in Florida" by October 2008.
