Albany, New York Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Plan

The City of Albany, New York completed a vulnerability assessment on its exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity to climate change, and from this developed recommended response strategies for current and future climate impacts. This report describes the vulnerability assessment and climate risks for Albany’s social systems, infrastructure and natural resources - and provides recommendations and strategies on how to improve the city’s resilience and adaptive capacity.

Cook County, Illinois Climate Change and Public Health Action Plan

2012

This strategic plan was developed to help Cook County, Illinois adapt to current and projected public health impacts resulting from climate change. The plan identifies five areas of concern in the county including: extreme heat and weather; food-borne illness; vector-borne illness; water quality and quantity and waterborne diseases; and air pollution and allergens - which are expected to be more prevalent as climate change continues and extreme weather events become more common. This report was sponsored by the Chicago Physicians for Social Responsibility.

Boulder County, Colorado Climate Change Preparedness Plan

May 3, 2012

The Boulder County Climate Change Preparedness Plan was prepared by Stratus Consulting for Boulder County Commissioner’s Sustainability Office. The plan is aimed at improving the resilience of the county and its municipalities to the vulnerabilities of climate change. The report identifies the potential impacts of climate change, explores the implications of these changes in the context of resource management institutions, and outlines opportunities for adaptation planning efforts.

The London Plan

The London Plan presents a strategy for the sustainable development of the city of London and its 31 surrounding boroughs. The plan addresses spatial development as related to living and working in and around London and outlines the major challenges due to climate change. The Plan has been updated twice since its original publication in 2004.

National Action Plan - Priorities for Managing Freshwater Resources in a Changing Climate

October 2011

In October 2010, the Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force published a Progress Report to the President describing Federal agency actions needed to better prepare the Nation to respond to the impacts of a changing climate. The Progress Report directed the Task Force’s Water Resources and Climate Change Adaptation Workgroup to lead the development of a national action plan to identify steps that Federal agencies can take to improve management of freshwater resources in a changing climate.

Massachusetts Climate Change Adaptation Report

2011

On September 27, 2011, Massachusetts Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Richard K. Sullivan Jr. filed the Massachusetts Climate Change Adaptation Report with the state's Legislature. The report provides a comprehensive overview of observed and predicted changes to Massachusetts’ climate and the anticipated impacts of and potential adaptation strategies to prepare for climate change.

City of Chula Vista, California Climate Adaptation Plan

May 2011

In 2010, the City of Chula Vista's Climate Change Working Group (CCWG) evaluated the potential impacts from climate change on municipal infrastructure and services, and recommended strategies to adapt to these potential impacts. In October 2010, the CCWG presented 11 recommended Climate Adaptation Strategies (see Appendix A) to the City Council to address climate change vulnerabilities and solutions related to energy and water supplies, public health, wildfires, biodiversity, coastal resources, and the local economy.

Coming Together for Clean Water: EPA's Strategy for Achieving Clean Water

March 2011

This strategy describes the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) plans to address the most critical stressors and threats to America's water resources. The report summarizes the challenges faced by EPA in protecting America's water resources, including threats to human and aquatic ecosystem health, climate change impacts, infrastructure needs, and population increase. The strategy outlines the challenges that were discussed at the 2010 Coming Together for Clean Water forum, describes the public participation process, and highlights the EPA’s priorities for achieving clean water goals.

PlaNYC 2030 - A Greener Greater New York

April 2011

First released in 2007, PlaNYC was an unprecedented effort undertaken by New York City Mayor Bloomberg to prepare the city for one million more residents, strengthen the economy, combat climate change, and enhance the quality of life for all New Yorkers. The Plan brought together over 25 City agencies to work toward the vision of a greener, greater New York.
