Portland, Oregon Central City 2035 Plan

July 9, 2018

As part of Portland Oregon’s Comprehensive Plan, the Central City 2035 Plan is the primary guiding policy document for Portland’s urban center. The plan offers goals, policies and tools to guide growth and development for largest “center” in Portland that, by 2035, will be home to 30% of Portland’s population growth, on 3% of its land area. One of the primary goals of the plan is to increase the resilience of the Central City to climate change, and policies are proposed for natural hazard, climate change and flooding resilience.

Cleveland Climate Action Plan - 2018 Update

September 21, 2018

Cleveland, Ohio has updated its Climate Action Plan with priorities that address social and racial equity, “good jobs, green jobs,” climate change resilience, and business leadership. The actions outlined are designed to achieve sustainability in Cleveland by integrating solutions that are environmentally sound, economically feasible, and socially equitable. While escalating Cleveland’s original 2013 CAP to continue building “Thriving and Healthy Neighborhoods" - the update maintains the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050, with interim goals of 16 percent by 2020 and 40 percent by 2030.

Colorado Climate Plan 2018 Update - State Level Policies and Strategies to Mitigate and Adapt

July 2018

Colorado published its first Climate Plan in 2007, and advanced the plan with State Level Policies and Strategies to Mitigate and Adapt in 2015. This version, updated in 2018, incorporates additional commitments to climate action, as laid out in Governor Hickenlooper’s 2017 executive order.  The plan focuses on eight main sectors including water, public health, greenhouse gas emissions, energy, transportation, agriculture, tourism and recreation, and ecosystems. Updated climate mitigation and adaptation strategies and policy recommendations are given for each of the sectors.

City of Whitefish, Montana Climate Action Plan

April 2018

Whitefish, Montana has committed to climate change mitigation and adaptation measures in this Climate Action Plan. Drafted by a mayor-appointed committee with extensive public involvement, the plan describes the actions that Whitefish can take to transition to a clean energy economy, reduce GHG emissions, and strategically build resilience to climate change impacts. The report outlines nearly 100 specific actions to implement 26 climate adaptation and mitigation strategies across six chapters for six focal sectors: City Buildings and Energy; Transportation and Land Use; Water and Wastewater; Forests and Watersheds; Consumption, Food and Waste; and School District.

Resilient DC - A Strategy to Thrive in the Face of Change

April 29, 2019

In April 2019, Washington D. C. released its Resilient DC Plan as part of its participation in the Rockefeller Foundation's 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) initiative. The Resilient DC plan presents strategies to help the District address three-main drivers of change: economic and population growth, climate change, and technological transformations.  It is designed to help the District manage threats from extreme natural and manmade disasters (including extreme heat, flooding, infrastructure failure, and terrorist or cyber attacks) and reduce chronic stressors that challenge the city on an everyday basis (including lack of affordable housing, economic inequality, educational opportunity gaps, and aging infrastructure).
