Climate Access
Climate Access is a nonprofit organization building political and public support for climate solutions through their learning network of climate leaders, pilot engagement projects and strategic services. They translate research into easy to use tips and tools on climate engagement; track and share best practices; promote problem solving, run a learning network for more than 3,000 members from nonprofits, government, academia and community based organizations; develop and pilot new engagement models; and provide technical services to help organizations implement effective engagement strategies. The Climate Access network membership is free and offers access to member-only resources and discussions.
Climate Access offers a range of strategic communications services including:
Research and analysis that seeks to understand an issue from all sides: This involves reviewing polls and social science to determine key trends and barriers, performing media audits that expose how debates have shifted over time, and conducting original qualitative research that draws insights from focus groups and thought leader interviews.
Communications and campaign strategies that challenge traditional approaches to green communications: Strategies to help identify and segment key audiences, frame messages around their concerns and beliefs, and identify new opportunities for increasing levels of engagement. Climate Access helps clients to "find the sweet spot where outreach goals dovetail with their audiences' own desires and motivations."
Training and support that builds the capacity of clients to apply specific guidance to their work: Using online platforms, tailored materials, collective problem solving techniques and in-person sessions, training is designed to help organizations secure internal buy-in for their outreach plan and make sure they have the skills to execute.
The resources provided on the Climate Access website include current research, news articles, and commentary on climate change communications, behavior change, and public opinion. You can browse resources by category or search by entering publication information or keywords into the search fields – as well as there are special collections on various topics, including recommended reading lists from leading experts.
Climate Access membership is available for climate practitioners (i.e. those working - or volunteering - at nonprofits and government agencies where at least part of one's role is to communicate with and engage the public in addressing climate issues). Service providers to these communities and academics working on the issue of climate communications and behavior change are also encouraged to become members of Climate Access.
