Post Carbon Institute
The Post Carbon Institute's mission is to provide individuals, communities, businesses, and governments with the resources needed to understand and respond to the interrelated economic, energy, environmental, and equity crises that define the 21st century - envisioning a world of resilient communities and re-localized economies that thrive within ecological bounds.
PCI is bringing local resilience-building ideas and models to thousands of communities tackling complex environmental, economic, energy, and social challenges. Recognizing that communities are the key to effective change, PCI offers a robust resource platform, resilience.org, publications like "Community Resilience Guides," and multimedia that bring the best ideas and models for relocalizing economies and building a sustainable future. Every year, the Institute publishes books, reports, articles, commentaries, and blog posts that build awareness, challenge misconceptions, promote promising models, and inspire action.
Post Carbon Institute was established in 2003 as an initiative of MetaFoundation, an organization created in 2000 by Julian Darley and Celine Rich. The purpose of MetaFoundation was to develop and support new organizations focused on innovative and unique solutions to environmental challenges.
