USDA Regional Climate Hubs

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and partner agencies established regional Climate Hubs across the U.S. in 2014. The Hubs offer regionally focused tools, strategies management options, and technical support to farmers, ranchers and forest land owners to help them adapt to climate change. The Hubs also direct land managers to agencies that can provide program support to help implement adaptive management practices.

Climate Hubs operate as cooperatives utilizing key partners including the public and land grant universities, Cooperative Extension, USDA researchers, the private sector, state, local and regional governments, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Department of Interior (DOI) regional climate change experts, and non-profits engaged in providing assistance to landowners.

Ten Climate Hubs have been established including:

Northeast Hub

Midwest Hub

Southeast Hub

Northern Plains Hub

Southern Plains Hub

Northwest Hub

Southwest Hub

Caribbean Sub Hub

Northern Forests Sub Hub

California Sub Hub

Climate Hubs provide periodic regional assessments of risk and vulnerability in the agriculture and forestry sectors to help land managers better understand the potential direct and indirect impacts of a changing climate. Climate Hubs offer many regionally tailored Technical Support, Assessments and Forecasts, and Outreach and Education programs. The Hubs also work to connect with and meet the needs of rural, tribal and underprivileged groups to help them sustain their working lands.

The USDA Climate Hubs Tool Shed is an online database providing information and links to tools to support agricultural and forest land managers in adapting to climate change.
