Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (WICCI)
The Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (WICCI) is a collaboration of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and other state agencies and institutions established to determine how climate change impacts will affect various state sectors and how to best adapt.
WICCI assesses and anticipates climate change impacts on specific Wisconsin natural resources, ecosystems and regions; evaluates potential effects on industry, agriculture, tourism and other human activities; and develops and recommends adaptation strategies that can be implemented by businesses, farmers, public health officials, municipalities, resource managers and other stakeholders.
WICCI working groups each created a report with adaptation strategies for their focus sector or location. The working group materials provided content for WICCI's first report, "Wisconsin's Changing Climate: Impacts and Adaptation," which presents numerous adaptation strategies that various stakeholders can incorporate into their planning.
WICCI's website contains information and tools for impacts and adaptation, as well as a growing resources database of presentations, videos, articles and other publications.
