USGS California Water Science Center
The USGS California Water Science Center brings many capabilities and tools to the understanding, management and protection of California's water and other natural resources. This center conducts long-term monitoring of streamflow and water quality; develops new sampling, analytical, and interpretive methods to assess groundwater quality; studies the geology of groundwater systems to help managers protect and optimize supplies; devises new computer models that can play a key role in everything from managing surface and groundwater supplies, to assessing the impact of climate change on individual watersheds; and conducts multi-disciplinary ecosystem and watershed research, including large-scale studies in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and San Francisco Bay.

Since 1998, Clean Energy Group, a national nonprofit organization, has worked to expand markets for clean energy technologies, including solar, land-based wind, offshore wind, fuel cells, energy storage, and biomass. In 2002, Clean Energy Group created the Clean Energy States Alliance to help state and municipal clean energy funds work together to deploy projects.
