USFS Southern Research Station
The Southern Research Station of the U. S. Forest Service (USFS) serves 13 southern states. The station has conducted studies on temperate and tropical forests, forest resources, and forest products. These studies provide a wealth of long-term datasets and conclusions on the dynamics of tree plantations and natural stands, watersheds, and wildlife habitats. Research work units of the SRS, such as the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center, have ongoing climate change related studies and publications.

Climate Community of Practice - Gulf of Mexico Sea Grant
The Climate Community of Practice is a group of professionals who aim to incorporate adaptation strategies into Gulf Coast communities’ comprehensive plans, with a goal of establishing a long-term community of climate adaptation practice in the Gulf region. The group was formed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s) Gulf of Mexico Regional Collaboration Team and the four Gulf of Mexico Sea Grant Programs - bringing together extension, outreach and education professionals and community officials in the Gulf to learn how coastal communities can adapt to climate-related impacts.

Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center
The Southeast Climate Adaptation Science Center is one of nine regional Climate Adaptation Science Centers (CASCs) under the Department of the Interior (DOI) managed by the U. S. Geological Survey's (USGS) National Climate Adaptation Science Center. The mission of the Centers and National CASC is to "deliver science to help fish, wildlife, water, land, and people adapt to a changing climate. " CASCs provide the tools that managers need to develop and implement strategies that address the impacts of climate change on natural and cultural resources.

The Louisiana Office of State Climatology is housed within Louisiana State University. The Office provides daily, weekly, and monthly climate reports, as well as statewide climate information, area radar, a rainfall atlas, and other weather related links are provided on the website.

Louisiana Sea Grant
Since its establishment in 1968, Louisiana Sea Grant College Program (LSG) has worked to promote stewardship of the state’s coastal resources through a combination of research, education and outreach programs critical to the cultural, economic and environmental health of Louisiana’s coastal zone. LSG’s strategic initiatives address four issues identified as especially pertinent to state, regional and national needs: healthy coastal ecosystems, sustainable coastal development, safe and sustainable seafood and hazard resilience in coastal communities.

Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA)
The CPRA's Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration handles Louisiana's coastal activity policy and legislative issues. Protection projects include Comite River diversion, Lake Pontchartrain and vicinity hurricane protection, and SELA - Orleans Parish flood control project. Restoration projects include freshwater diversion, outfall management, sediment diversions, dredged material / marsh creation, shoreline protection, sediment and nutrient trapping, hydrologic restoration, marsh management, barrier island restoration, vegetation planting, and demonstration projects.

Louisiana Governor's Office of Coastal Activities
The Louisiana Governor's Office of Coastal Activities provides leadership and support to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA). This office also directs and coordinates the development and implementation of policies, plans, and programs which encourage multiple uses of the coastal zone and achieve a proper balance between development and conservation, restoration, creation, and nourishment of coastal resources. .

Southern Regional Climate Center
The Southern Regional Climate Center (SRCC) is one of six regional climate centers in the U. S. managed by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). The mission of the SRCC is to increase the use and availability of climate information in the southern region of the U. S. that comprises the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. SRCC personnel work closely with scientists from other regional and federal climate centers to enhance climate services and programs that provide a regional structure for climate applications.

Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP) - RISA
Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP) is a member of NOAA's Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program, which supports climate research for decision-makers and policy planners at a regional level. SCIPP represents Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi, investigating major climate hazards of the region. The program provides education and outreach, collaboratively develops an all-hazards assessment tool, and actively engages community-level decision makers to determine hazard planning and climate data gaps.

The Southern Group of State Foresters (SGSF) is a non-profit organization consisting of State Foresters from Alabama, Arkansas, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, U. S. Virgin Islands, and Virginia. SGSF provides leadership in sustaining the economic, environmental and social benefits of the forests of the Southeast, and works to identify and address existing and emerging issues and challenges that are important to southern forests and citizens.
