Northeast Regional Climate Center
The Northeast Regional Climate Center (NRCC) is one of six regional climate centers in the U. S. managed by NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). Established in 1983, the NRCC is located in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Cornell University. It serves the 12-state region that includes: Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. The mission of the NRCC is to facilitate and enhance the collection, dissemination and use of climate data and information, as well as to monitor and assess climatic conditions and impacts in the twelve-state, northeastern region of the U.

Department of the Interior (DOI): Northern Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC)
The Northern Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NALCC)is one of 21 LCCs established by Secretarial Order No. 3289, which focus on on-the-ground strategic conservation efforts at the landscape level. LCCs are management-science partnerships that inform integrated resource-management actions addressing climate change and other stressors within and across landscapes, linking science and conservation delivery. The currently participating bureaus are the Minerals Management Service, National Park Service, and the U.

Consortium on Climate Risk in the Urban Northeast (CCRUN) - RISA
CCRUN is a member of NOAA's Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program, which supports climate research for decision-makers and policy planners at a regional level. The consortium, encompassing the Boston-to-Philadelphia corridor; serving stakeholder needs in assessing and managing risks from climate variability and change. The RISA is structured as a nodal network covering the relevant parts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania in order to serve local needs for targeted climate-risk information in a coordinated way, with partners from Columbia University, City College of the City University of New York, Stevens Institute of Technology, the University of Massachusetts, and Drexel University.

USFS Northern Research Station
One of five regional units that make up the U. S. Forest Service (USFS) Research and Development organization, the Northern Research Station (NRS) maintains 21 research locations throughout a 20-state territory. The station develops management strategies for plants, soil, air, water, and wildlife to meet the needs of people and communities. NRS scientists are involved in research to understand the processes and extent of global climate change and their probable/possible effects on forest ecosystems.

USGS New England Water Science Center, Rhode Island
The USGS Rhode Island Water Science Center (RI WSC) provides current real time data on streamflow, ground water, water quality, precipitation, and lakes and reservoirs from sites throughout Rhode Island. The RI WSC conducts projects that involve the collection, monitoring, management and analysis of data on hydrologic and biologic resource conditions. These projects address a wide variety of water-resources issues, including water supply, groundwater contamination, nutrient loading in streams, ecological influences, effects of land use on water quality, and basic hydrologic and biologic data collection.

Rhode Island Sea Grant
Rhode Island Sea Grant is located at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography, and funds research at other institutions throughout the state. It is also home to one of only four Sea Grant Legal Programs in the country, and the only one in the Northeast, located at Roger Williams University School of Law. Rhode Island Sea Grant funds research that addresses coastal ecosystem and fisheries issues. Research goals include: characterizing and quantifying dynamics of change in coastal ecosystems; improving understanding of effects of contaminants on coastal ecosystems; developing techniques and indicators to characterize the sources, pathways, and effects of nutrients, toxins, and biocontaminants; exploring links between ecosystem-based management and fisheries management; determining industry and consumer seafood priorities; and increasing knowledge of biology and ecology of valuable species.

U.S. Forest Service Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center
The mission of the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center (EFETAC) is an interdisciplinary resource that is actively developing new technology and tools to anticipate and respond to emerging eastern forest threats. EFETAC researchers work with other scientists nationally as well as with a variety of Federal, State, and local government agencies, universities, and non-governmental partners to address forest threats. EFETAC has many projects and collaborations related to climate change which can be accessed on their website.

University of Rhode Island Coastal Resources Center
The Coastal Resources Center at the Graduate School of Oceanography, University of Rhode Island is dedicated to advancing coastal management worldwide. In addition to assisting in the development and implementation of coastal management programs in Rhode Island and the United States, the Center is active in countries throughout the world promoting the sustainable use of coastal resources for the benefit of all. Implementing coastal management projects in the field, building capacity through education and training, and sharing lessons learned and information throughout the coastal community are the foundation of the Coastal Resources Center's work.

Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council
In 1971, the Rhode Island General Assembly passed legislation that created the Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC). The CRMC is a management agency with regulatory functions, tasked with continual planning and management of the coastal region and resources and with coordinating these tasks with local, state, and federal governments. Its primary responsibilities revolve around the preservation, protection, development, and restoration of Rhode Island's coastal areas through its comprehensive and integrated Special Area Management Plans (SAMPs).
