Structures covered by flood insurance with a history of repetitive flooding and those properties identified as part of a project in the Flood Hazard Management Plan will be more likely to be given priority for available program and grant funds.

Rainscaping Iowa
Rainscaping Iowa is a statewide campaign promoting infiltration based storm water management practices that result in the improvement and protection of Iowa's soil and water resources. The program is a collaboration among several state and local agencies in Iowa and is dedicated to educating the public and training professionals in infiltration-based stormwater management. Rainscaping Iowa is funded through a variety of state and local sources, including the state Department of Transportation’s Living Roadway Trust, along with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Department of Agricultural and Land Stewardship, Department of Economic Development, the Iowa Storm Water Education Program, and the Polk Soil and Water Conservation District.

Reaching Higher Ground: Avenues to Secure and Manage New Land for Communities Displaced by Climate Change

From the Center for Progressive Reform, this paper provides an analysis of the legal, policy, and corporate tools to acquire and govern land to relocate a community. It presents the most promising approaches that could feed into workable strategies for land acquisition, with the aim of protecting people and property in the short term, promoting climate resiliency in the long-term, and maintaining important cultural and economic assets. A number of case studies are included, many of which are focused on Native Americans and Alaskan Natives, since sea level rise and in turn coastal relocation is a present issue among these communities.

Adapting to Rising Tides Program: Preserving Shoreline Parks in the Face of Climate Change
September 2015
The Bay Conservation and Development Commission’s (BCDC) Adapting to Rising Tides (ART) Program supports climate adaptation planning across ten shoreline counties in the San Francisco Bay area of California. This report focuses on the East Bay Regional Park District’s (EBRPD) shoreline parks in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. The ART Program staff worked with EBRPD staff to assess the vulnerability and risk for all EBRPD shoreline parks. The report describes the current condition of those parks the demographics of the populations EBRPD serves, the vulnerability and risks for shoreline parks due to climate change, potential adaptation responses, and recommendations for building shoreline park resilience.

2016 Resilient Cities Summit Report - Solutions for Sustainable Land Use

The National League of Cities, Urban Land Institute, and U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC) hosted the second Resilient Cities Summit in 2016 which convened mayors, senior city officials, and experts in sustainable development, finance, land use, real estate, and infrastructure. Focused on how cities can be more resilient, the purpose of this summit was to offer participants access to land use tools and resources to advance resilience in their cities. The report includes many examples of resilient cities and offers related resources.
