AmeriCorps - Corporation for National and Community Service
Founded in 1994, AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 Americans in intensive service each year at 21,600 unique sites including nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. The Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency that hosts the AmeriCorps program, works to help millions of Americans improve the lives of their fellow citizens through service.
Resilience AmeriCorps recruits and trains AmeriCorps VISTA members to serve low-income communities across the country by developing plans and implementing projects that increase resilience-building capacity. Resilience AmeriCorps VISTA members work to address a variety of topics, including: built infrastructure, health, economy, natural and cultural resources, and social connectedness. They mitigate risk by focusing on three intersecting objectives: vulnerability reduction, preparedness, and long-term recovery.
