BoCo Strong
BoCo Strong is a community resilience-building initiative that was created in the wake of the 2013 flood in Boulder County, Colorado. BoCo Strong focuses on strengthening networks and connections across governmental, geographic, social, economic, and cultural boundaries to help all the residents of Boulder County connect to the resources that they need to thrive in the face of shocks and stressors. BoCo Strong's Resilience Network includes civic, non-profit, private, faith-based, emergency management, and government representatives. BoCo Strong strives to build the will for implementing resilience best practices, with particular emphasis on information sharing and inclusive data distribution. Its main activities include skill-building workshops, interviews with partner organizations, research on shared toolsets and best practices, and data collection from around the county.
Through its Leadership Program, BoCo Strong gathers and supports Resilience Leadership Teams for neighborhoods or communities, which include 3-4 liaisons and a representative from local government. The teams seek to lead and engage their communities in identifying, prioritizing, and implementing projects that increase their community’s well-being.
