First Street Foundation

First Street Foundation is a non-profit team of scientists and communicators working to quantify and communicate present and future flood risk for homes across the country. The organization conducts research, analysis, and outreach to help homeowners and homebuyers understand and be prepared for flood events - especially as climate change and sea level rise intensify these events. First Street aims to help Americans understand the true risk of flooding to property, and to integrate flood risk data into decisions about insurance, mortgages, land use, and other financial considerations.

First Street developed Flood iQ, a tool to help states understand future projections of flood risk that presents information about tidal flood risk and property values for coastal communities in 18 states. First Street also hosts SeaLevelRise.org, a communications website to help users discuss risks, causes, and responses to sea-level rise. The site includes infographics, videos, and other materials developed by sea-level rise experts.
