Gulf of Mexico Alliance
The Gulf of Mexico Alliance is a partnership of the states of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, with the goal of significantly increasing regional collaboration to enhance the ecological and economic health of the Gulf of Mexico. The Alliance has identified six priority issues including water quality, habitat conservation and restoration, ecosystem integration and assessment, nutrients and nutrient impacts, coastal community resilience, and environmental education.
The long-term goals for the 'Coastal Community Resilience' program include priorities such as providing enhancements for coastal communities, ecosystems, and economies to become more resilient to coastal hazards, and increasing the understanding of coastal hazards risks associated with living, working, and doing business in the Gulf region by residents and visitors.
