Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET) - International

The Institute for Social and Environmental Transition-International (ISET-International) collaborates with local partners to build resilience and catalyze adaptation to social and environmental change. ISET-International particularly focuses on strategies that address the fundamental challenges confronted by marginalized populations and those who lack the resources to adapt. ISET-International brings together theoretical and scientific insights with social engagement, local knowledge, and shared learning to identify practical strategies at the local level and to foster the growth of applied knowledge.

ISET-International's core activities include:

  1. Knowledge and Innovation Research: Targeted strategic research to identify innovative strategies for responding to critical issues facing humankind such as those related to climate change, water, and other environmental resources, disaster risk reduction, development, and poverty alleviation
  2. Methodology Development: Developing the basic tools required to analyze, understand, and respond to emerging problems in complex interlinked socio-ecological systems
  3. Incubation Support: Provision of process, technical, and other advisory support to local organizations implementing innovative programs for responding to climate change, as well as direct implementation of innovative pilots by ISET-International itself
  4. Evidence-Based Advocacy: Knowledge generated through research, pilot, and other activities is used as key evidence for non-political advocacy for effective responses to emerging problems in local, regional and global forums
