Land Trust Alliance
The Land Trust Alliance promotes voluntary private land conservation to benefit communities and natural systems. The Land Trust Alliance is a national convener, strategist, and representative of more than 1,700 land trusts across America. The alliances goals are to dramatically expand the pace of land conservation (through tax incentives); build strong land trusts; defend the permanence of conservation easements; and ensure that the work of land trusts is as strategically directed as possible.
The Land Trust Alliance is working with partners to call on policy makers to support a variety of policies to aid conservation of private forest, grasslands and agricultural lands to retain their role in mitigating carbon emissions and to prevent carbon emissions from their conversion to more intensive uses. The Alliance is also working with partners to help land trusts adapt their priorities and management strategies for climate change. Rally 2009 (a Land Trust Alliance sponsored conference) featured many climate-change related seminars and workshops.
