Movement Generation
The Movement Generation (MG) Justice & Ecology Project engages in movement-building, training, analysis, and outreach to promote the restoration of land, labor, and culture. MG describes itself as being "rooted in vibrant social movements led by low-income communities and communities of color committed to a Just Transition away from profit and pollution and towards healthy, resilient and life-affirming local economies."
As part of its movement-building work, MG participates in the Climate Justice Alliance Our Power Campaign as a co-anchor and steering committee member. MG also documents and catalyzes Resilience Based-Organizing, a strategic approach that emphasizes direct democratic decision-making and physical implementation by those who are being impacted by the problem.
Through multilingual popular education, MG collaborates with union members to: engage in hands-on projects to foster climate resilience; mobilize their local and national unions to take public stands against fossil fuels; and lead campaigns for a just transition toward a new economy based on economic democracy and ecological restoration.
