National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS)
Following the passage of the NIDIS Act of 2006, The National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS) was established to develop an integrated drought monitoring and forecasting system at federal, state, and local levels. NIDIS's research goals focus on risk assessment, forecasting, and management. One of its primary projects is the U.S. Drought Portal, which is part of an interactive system to provide early warning about anticipated droughts, impact and risk assessments, planning tools, and drought historical data.
