Chicago Community Climate Action Toolkit
The Field Museum's Chicago Community Climate Action Toolkit includes over 60 multimedia tools to help communities develop and carry out local climate action projects that build on community strengths and improve quality of life. The tools available document the experiences of community partners, present the basics of climate science as they relate to the Chicago, Illinois region, and provide ideas for local climate action.
The multimedia climate action tools offered in the toolkit include links to local climate action plans, educational tools for teaching climate science, comic books, climate action videos and more. Three models for working on climate action are suggested, and the model web pages include slideshows, climate action tools, and links to related resources. Extensive resources are provided to promote planning and building your own climate action project in the community as well. Most of the tools are available in English and Spanish.
To create the Toolkit, the Field Museum worked with partner organizations in four Chicago neighborhoods - Pilsen, Forest Glen, South Chicago and Bronzeville - to develop and carry out local climate action projects. Each community is highlighted on the website, profiling the unique successes and challenges of each project. More 'tools for action', models, and related videos are available for each neighborhood, specific to the local community.
