The report “From Boom to Bust: Climate Risk in the Golden State,” was commissioned by the Risky Business Project, a collection of business and policy leaders dedicated to publicizing the economic costs of unabated climate change. The group is chaired by environmentalist donor Tom Steyer, ex-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Henry Paulson Jr., a former Treasury Secretary.

Coastal Flood Risk and Climate Change Implications for New Jersey’s Senior Citizens

This report, from the Rutgers Climate Institute, focuses on the social vulnerability and climate-related risks faced by the elderly population in New Jersey, defined as those over 65 years old. The authors focus on coastal flooding and storm surges, present-day impacts that are expected to intensify with continued climate change. The report describes the three characteristics of social vulnerability experienced by many seniors: limited mobility; compromised physical and mental health; and sometimes reduced resources, including income and assistance.

North Carolina Sea Level Rise Assessment Report - 2015 Update

This report responds to a charge from the North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) specifying that sea level rise (SLR) projections be developed for a 30- year timeframe - and to the N. C. General Assembly Session Law 2012-202 (which prevented the CRC from taking any regulatory action before July 1, 2016). Sea level is rising along the entire coast of North Carolina, and the variation in the extent of localized sea level rise and causes of variation are described. The report describes sea level rise dynamics, the use of tide gauges, future projections of SLR in North Carolina, and how to make sense of these predictions - in an approachable fashion.

Arizona Extreme Weather, Climate and Health Profile Report
March 2015
From the Arizona State University and the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) the Extreme Weather, Climate and Health Profile Report aims to address and plan for the Arizona’s climate-related health impacts. Through the report, the state initiated a climate and health adaptation planning process known as BRACE (Building Resilience Against Climate Effects), a framework developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide local health officials with a mechanism for addressing and adapting to climate-related public health effects.

CRED focuses on all emergencies with a major human impact with special focuses on public health, epidemiology, and structural and socio-economic issues. The report focuses on trends and patterns of global natural disasters and their impacts, and how these vary regarding the income level or the geographical location.

Louisville Urban Tree Canopy Assessment

At the recommendation of the Louisville Metro Tree Advisory Commission, a countywide urban tree canopy (UTC) study was conducted in Louisville, Kentucky. The study was designed to determine the historic and current amount and location of tree cover, quantify the benefits, set realistic goals to expand the tree canopy, and make recommendations for achieving these goals.

Building the Knowledge Base for Climate Resiliency: New York City Panel on Climate Change 2015 Report

This report presents the work of the New York City Panel on Climate Change (NPCC) from January 2013 to January 2015. The report (also “NPCC 2015”) documents current climate trends and climate projections for the New York metropolitan region up to 2100. It provides the City of New York with climate projections to the end of the century, both static and dynamic coastal storm surge modeling, and next steps in the development of a monitoring system for climate change impacts and adaptation. While specific to the New York City region, the approaches developed by the NPCC can contribute to efforts to enhance resiliency as they are undertaken in other locations.

Beyond Traffic: Trends and Choices 2045

Released in Draft format, the DOT is asking for feedback with the intention of producing a final version later in 2015.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Climate and Health Profile Report 2015, “An Assessment of Climate Change Impacts on the Health & Well-Being of Minnesotans,” provides a comprehensive assessment of climate change impacts and potential health implications for the state. In addition to describing climate trends and projections, the report identifies datasets and the data gaps that could affect the development of quantitative measures of health outcomes. The report concludes with a brief discussion of next steps required for an effective response to the identified public health climate hazards.
