Tribal Climate and Health Adaptation Webinar Series
December 2019
The Tribal Climate Health Project hosted a series of 10 live, national webinars on Tribal Climate and Health Adaptation (TC&HA) between August to December 2019. These webinars provided training and guidance for tribal-serving health and environmental professionals on the intersection of climate change and tribal health. The trainings included steps, tools, case studies, and other resources on topics including the different climate-related impacts on tribal communities, how to perform vulnerability assessments, and how to form, implement and evaluate adaptation strategies and plans. There were several interactive components of this training, as participants were encouraged each week to discuss related readings, provide their own experiences and findings, and participate in polls, surveys, and other forms of feedback along the entire 10 week training.

Data, Information, and Tools Needed for Community Resilience Planning and Decision-Making
September 2019
Data Needs for Resilience Planning and Decision-Making was a workshop coordinated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Center for Risk-Based Community Resilience Planning in October 2018 for adaptation, resilience, and planning practitioners. The workshop focused on current approaches and the gaps in data, tools, and information collection needs to support the planning, decision-making, and implementation of community resilience strategies. This report describes the workshop findings, the current processes resilience leaders follow in developing and implementing resilience plans, and identifies gaps and needs in accessibility to data and tools.

NYC Heat Program: Fire Hydrant Abuse Prevention

NYC Heat Program: Fire Hydrant Abuse Prevention: The New York City Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) 2019 Hydrant Education Action Team (HEAT) program is a fire hydrant abuse prevention campaign that deploys teams of teens hired through the Department of Youth and Community Development’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) to inform New Yorkers about the dangers of illegally opening fire hydrants. The program educates residents on how the hydrants can be opened legally if equipped with a City-approved spray cap.

Our Power Puerto Rico: Moving Toward a Just Recovery
2019
The Climate Justice Alliance (CJA) Our Power Puerto Rico report demonstrates how the "Just Recovery" model can be utilized to help the island recover from Hurricane Maria of 2017, which devastated Puerto Rico’s agriculture and rural farms. Just Recovery is a model centered on frontline communities' ability to respond, recover and rebuild from climate accelerated disasters. The model is created through the accumulation of hands-on cases conducted by Climate Justice Alliance which is an organization with 67 urban and rural frontline communities, organizations and supporting networks. The goal is to lay the groundwork necessary to activate community participation in both immediate emergency responses and long-term rebuilds. It also emphasizes that the process must be led by those who have been treated unequally in everyday life - the queer, trans, working-class, folks of color, disabled, immigrants, and/or femmes on the frontlines. By doing so allows frontline communities to build their own power, agency and self-determination while achieving climate adaptation. The report also includes a list of practical steps for conducting the Just Recovery model.

Climate Communication Leadership Series Replication Guide
July 2018
The Climate Communications Leadership Series was created by the Utah Climate Action Network and Utah Clean Energy, in part during a workshop that was held in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2018. The series was further developed from lessons learned in this pilot project, and a guide was developed so the model can be replicated in other communities. The program replication guide offers curriculum suggestions, exercises, design files and recruitment materials that can be used to deliver a locally tailored climate communications program.

Solar Works DC
May 18, 2017
In 2017, the District of Columbia’s Departments of Energy & Environment (DOEE) and Employment Services (DOES) partnered with GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic to start Solar Works DC, to implement a low-income solar installation program with a job training component. The purpose of the Program is to focus on training disadvantaged members of the D. C. community in solar installation, and provide low-income families with solar energy systems. Over a three-year period, more than 200 individuals have been trained in solar-related related industries.

Framework for Engaging Small- and Medium-Sized Businesses in Maryland on Climate Resilience
May 2017
From the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), this Framework provides guidance to state and local governments on how to engage with and assist small- to medium-sized businesses interested in enhancing their resilience to climate change. The report offers recommendations on how governments can address the resources and information needs of these businesses, and highlights four key recommendations for engaging small business on climate resilience. C2ES asserts that assisting small and medium businesses in resilience planning protects local economies and is mutually beneficial for the public and private sectors.

Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional Certification Program
2017
The Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) Certification Program is a voluntary credential for professionals who design, install and maintain sustainable landscapes in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The goal of the certification program is to certify professionals throughout the watershed who can maintain conservation landscapes that help reduce stormwater runoff, in turn benefiting local residents and ecosystems.

Climate Adaptation Workshop for Minnesota Higher Educational Institutions
January 31, 2017
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency worked with a team of college and university representatives to develop a one-day workshop "Climate Adaptation in Minnesota Higher Educational Institutions" to further build climate adaptation leadership on Minnesota campuses. The event was held on January 31st, 2017 at the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus. Approximately 130 college and university faculty, staff and students participated in this interactive program. The goals of the workshop were to illustrate how higher educational institutions can recognize the impacts of climate change, develop adaptation strategies, and inspire resilient solutions in Minnesota.
