City of Portland and Multnomah County, Oregon Climate Action Plan 2009

October 2009

In 2007, Portland City Council and the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners adopted resolutions directing staff to design a strategy to reduce local carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050. This 2009 Climate Action Plan responds to that directive. It intends to guide future efforts by the City and County and provide an innovative framework for the region’s transition to a more prosperous, sustainable, and climate-stable future. An updated version of this plan was released in 2015.

Potential for Adaptation to Climate Change in an Agricultural Landscape in the Central Valley of California - Final Report

August 2009

This case study is intended to build awareness about the urgent need to develop strategies to mitigate and adapt to climate change in specific agricultural regions. Using a process that engaged local stakeholders, this report addresses planning issues at both the farm and landscape levels. While this study focused specifically on Yolo County, this approach to assessing mitigation and adaptation potential could be useful elsewhere.

July 25, 2009

The Regional Planning Commission (RPC) was tasked by the Town of Seabrook, NH to develop adaptation strategies to protect areas of the town at risk of flooding due to climate change. Land-Use Scenarios: National-Scale Housing-Density Scenarios Consistent with Climate Change Storylines

June 2009

Climate and land-use change are major components of global environmental change with feedbacks between these components. The consequences of these interactions show that land-use may exacerbate or alleviate climate-change effects. Based on these findings it is important to use land-use scenarios that are consistent with the specific assumptions underlying climate change scenarios.
