The Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD) 2012 Water Supply and Infrastructure Master Plan is the water district’s strategy for providing a reliable supply of water for Santa Clara County, California. The Plan identifies the District strategy to continue investments to meet the county’s future water supply needs through at least 2035. The Plan discusses managing for climate change impacts with a focus on drought, and calls for further climate adaptation planning by the District.

Achieving Hazard-Resilient Coastal and Waterfront Smart Growth

In August 2011, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the state Sea Grant College Programs of Hawaii, Rhode Island, and Texas hosted a two-day roundtable meeting of national experts from the fields of smart growth, hazard mitigation, climate change adaptation, and coastal management. The roundtable brought together these experts to share ideas about how coastal and waterfront communities could improve quality of life, use land and other resources efficiently, and create environmentally and economically sustainable neighborhoods while minimizing risks from natural hazards related to coastal and waterfront flooding.

Climate Change Adaptation Plan for Coastal and Inland Wetlands in the State of Michigan

South Florida Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy 2012-2107

The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for South Florida is a plan to support the regional economy of Broward, Miami. Dade, and Monroe Counties. The CEDS will guide federal and state investment priorities and funding sources, and delineates lead organizations responsibilities for execution of the CEDS. The strategy takes into account the region’s vulnerability to climate impacts, and discusses advance preparation and adaptation, as well as the necessity for South Florida to become disaster resilient to remain economically strong.

California 2012 Bioenergy Action Plan

California’s 2012 Bioenergy Action Plan outlines strategies, goals, objectives, and actions that state agencies will take to increase bioenergy development in California. The plan builds upon the state’s 2006 and 2011 Bioenergy Action Plans. These plans were developed with input from the Bioenergy Interagency Working Group, the California Biomass Collaborative and stakeholders and other public comments. An in-depth status report on bioenergy development and analysis of the issues are contained within the 2011 Bioenergy Action Plan, which was adopted by the California Energy Commission in March 2011.

Miami Beach, Florida Stormwater Management Master Plan

In 2012, the City of Miami Beach, Florida approved an updated city-wide Comprehensive Stormwater Management Master Plan (SWMMP). The plan includes strategies for improving stormwater management practices, coastal infrastructure, funding, and regulatory policies. The plan accounts for sea level rise impacts on stormwater in the City, and provides planning flexibility for various rates of sea level rise. The SWMMP is intended to be a guide for improving Miami Beach’s stormwater management system flood control and water quality performance for the next 20 years, with considerations of potential sea level rise over 20-years of stormwater infrastructure and a 50-year planning horizon for sea wall heights.

Oregon Integrated Water Resources Strategy 2012

The Oregon Water Resources Commission adopted the state's first Integrated Water Resources Strategy in 2012 with recommended actions designed to improve access to, and sustainability of, water resources. Louisiana Coastal Land Use Toolkit 2.1

Developed by the Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX), the Louisiana Coastal Land Use Toolkit contains development standards that are designed to support hazard mitigation and natural resource protection in the coastal areas of Louisiana. The Toolkit offers a customizable regulatory framework for land use and development, in particular for those communities facing coastal and stormwater flooding. The Toolkit includes model zoning and subdivision codes that can be used to build more resilient coastal communities that are adaptive to these climate impacts and others, by adopting sustainable development and Smart Growth principles.

Bridgeport, Connecticut Climate Preparedness Workshops - Summary of Findings

In 2011 a partnership formed between the City of Bridgeport, Greater Bridgeport Regional Council, The Nature Conservancy, Clean Air Cool Planet, and the Regional Plan Association to address climate impacts in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The partnership's focus was on increasing awareness of risks associated with extreme weather and natural and climate-related hazards, and assessing the risks, strength and vulnerabilities within the City of Bridgeport. This focus was achieved through a series of Climate Preparedness Workshops in 2012.

Climate Ready North Carolina: Building a Resilient Future

The North Carolina Interagency Leadership Team (ILT) - a group of 11 state and federal agencies - developed this coordinated climate adaptation strategy providing a framework for planning an integrated climate adaptation response for North Carolina. The report discusses how the state can proactively prepare for projected impacts of climate variability and weather extremes, with the emphasis on practical, economically feasible options that can be undertaken by state agencies, working with willing partners at local, regional, and federal levels.
