Wildlife Conservation Society Climate Adaptation Fund

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Climate Adaptation Fund supports one to two-year projects that implement science-driven, on-the-ground actions that assist wildlife and ecosystems to adapt to climate change at a landscape scale. The mission of the Fund is to "increase the pace and scale of climate adaptation for wildlife and ecosystems and the people that value and depend on them. " WCS provides a total of $2. 5 million in grant awards between $50,000 and $250,000 to conservation non-profit organizations each year.

City of Berkeley, California 2016 Measure T1 - Bonds to Improve Existing City Infrastructure and Facilities

On November 8, 2016 Berkeley voters passed Measure T1 with an 86. 5% approval. This measure authorizes the City to sell $100 million of General Obligation Bonds (GO Bonds) to repair, renovate, replace, or reconstruct the City’s aging infrastructure and facilities, such as sidewalks and streets, senior and recreation centers, and other important City facilities and buildings. The first round of funding includes the use of green infrastructure for storm drains and parks, and is focused on advancing social equity across projects.

The Los Angeles County Safe, Clean Neighborhood Parks and Beaches Measure of 2016 (Measure A) supports the protection, enhancement and maintenance of Los Angeles, California’s neighborhood parks, open space, trails, beaches, natural habitat, rivers, streams, and the urban tree canopy - by implementing an annual parcel tax of 1. 5 cents per square foot of development. Measure A is expected to generate approximately $94 million per year for local parks, beaches, and open space areas, replacing expiring dedicated funding from Propositions A of 1992 and 1996.

New Hampshire Setting SAIL (Science, Assessment, Implementation, and Legislation) Project
The New Hampshire Setting SAIL (Science, Assessment, Implementation, and Legislation) project supports state and local implementation of recommendations from the New Hampshire Coastal Risk and Hazards Commission’s (NHCRHC) report, Preparing New Hampshire for Projected Storm Surge, Sea-level Rise, and Extreme Precipitation, through a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The New Hampshire Coastal Program (NHCP) leads the project through a public-private partnership with the New Hampshire Coastal Adaptation Workgroup (NHCAW).

DC Water Environmental Impact Bond

DC Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water), the water utility in Washington, D. C. , has announced the nation’s first Environmental Impact Bond (EIB), an innovative bond to fund the construction of green infrastructure to manage stormwater runoff and improve the District’s water quality. The $25 million, tax-exempt EIB was sold in a private placement to the Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group and Calvert Foundation to fund the initial green infrastructure project in its DC Clean Rivers Project, a $2.

California’s Urban Greening Program
September 2016
California’s Urban Greening Program, created by SB 859 in 2016, is a competitive grant program that funds local green infrastructure projects to reduce emissions, expand green space, and create more sustainable communities. Administered by the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA), the program is part of "California Climate Investments," which refer to the more than three dozen programs that are funded by the state's cap and trade auction revenues. Urban Greening projects can be used for improvements such as tree planting, park creation or enhancements, green streets and alleys, greening of public lands and structures, and more. The program's selection criteria ensure that projects proposed by, benefiting, and building partnerships in disadvantaged and critically underserved communities will be prioritized for funding.

EPA - FEMA Partnership on Hazard Mitigation and Sustainability

In 2010, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) committing the agencies to coordinate support that they provide to communities on hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, sustainable development, and climate adaptation. The coordination reflects a recognition that when communities are engaging in post-disaster recovery and redevelopment planning, they should be considering climate adaptation, hazard mitigation, and smart growth policies.

New York State Environmental Protection Fund – Local Waterfront Revitalization Program
On an annual basis, the Department of State solicits grant applications from local governments for 50/50 matching grants from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund's (EPF) Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP). The LWRP provides technical assistance, and matching grants on a reimbursement basis (under Title 11 of the EPF) to villages, towns, cities, and counties located along New York’s coasts or designated inland waterways, to prepare or implement strategies for community and waterfront revitalization.

Delaware Database for Funding Resilient Communities

The Institute for Public Administration at the University of Delaware, with support from Delaware Coastal Programs, has compiled a web-based database of financial assistance programs that can support Delaware’s local governments with the implementation of climate change adaptation and resilient community development. Financial assistance programs are featured, rather than technical and planning assistance, that support costly adaptation activities such as infrastructure improvements and retrofitting, habitat restoration, and land acquisition.
