Low Impact Development Manual for Coastal South Carolina

The Low Impact Development (LID) Manual for Coastal South Carolina project is supported by years of outreach and research led by the South Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERRS) and South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium. The project includes key leaders in the area that serve on the LID Manual Advisory Committee, and incorporates public trainings/meetings throughout the process. The final product will be a guidance document defined and vetted by end users.

Alaska Wildlife Action Plan
December 2016
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game developed Alaska’s Wildlife Action Plan to provide a common strategic framework for wildlife management, updated species data, and tools to support the conservation of the state’s aquatic and terrestrial wildlife. The original 2006 plan was updated in 2015, approved in 2016, and has been revised to focus on strategic approaches that will guide priorities and projects over the next 10 years. The purpose of the plan is to identify species of greatest conservation need in Alaska, describe their distribution and habitat use, and the key threats to these species.

Durham, New Hampshire HMP Climate Adaptation Chapter: Developing Strategies to Protect Areas at Risk from Flooding due to Climate Change and Sea Level Rise

New York State Climate Smart Community Coordinators
May 2021
Beginning in 2021, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) initiated the New York State Climate Leadership Coordinator Services. In 2022, the program name was updated to Climate Smart Communities (CSC) Coordinators. The program is a $3. 5-million initiative to select relevant organizations to serve as contractors to provide technical assistance to local municipalities on climate change adaptation and mitigation projects. Selected contractors will work in one of three territories in New York 一 Western, Eastern, and Downstate territories 一 and will help local governments and communities with “outreach, education, planning, capacity-building, and assistance with project implementation.

Denver Green Buildings Ordinance
November 2, 2018
The City of Denver, Colorado established a Green Buildings Ordinance in 2018 requiring all new and existing buildings over 25,000 square feet in size to incorporate a “cool roof” along with other green energy measures. The new ordinance strengthens Denver’s 2017 green roof ordinance to go beyond vegetated roof requirements with additional, cost-effective options for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing urban heat island effects across the city.

Modernizing HUD’s Consolidated Planning Process to Narrow the Digital Divide and Increase Resilience to Natural Hazards

This final rule updates the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) Consolidated Plan planning process to require states and local governments to consider two additional concepts: 1) the availability of broadband access, and 2) the vulnerability of housing occupied by low- and moderate-income households to natural hazards risks, many of which may be increasing due to climate change. Consolidated Plans are used by state and local governments receiving HUD funds to assess their affordable housing and community development needs, so that they may make place-based investment decisions.

Shifting Course: Climate Adaptation for Water Management Institutions

This publication identifies a set of common principles for climate-adaptive institutions, specifically for water management. It was originally inspired by a session organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), International Union for Conservation of Nature and Conservation International at the 2010 Stockholm World Water Week. This report is a provides operational guidance on how to make water management institutions more climate-adaptive. Although the climate debate is often centered on temperature, water is what will determine whether a community (a village, city, or region) or ecosystem can survive - according to the report.

America's Climate Choices: Limiting the Magnitude of Climate Change

Limiting the Magnitude of Climate Change focuses on climate change mitigation goals, opportunities, and policies, and recommends the U.S. climate policy goal be stated in terms of a budget for cumulative greenhouse gas emissions over the period 2012 to 2050. The report suggests the revenues created by tax receipts or allowance sales from carbon pricing could be used to fund climate adaptation efforts.
