CIRCA addresses climate change impacts to the natural, built, and human environment by bringing together experts from engineering, economics, political science, natural science, finance, and law.

Connecticut Sea Grant
Through the University of Connecticut, the Connecticut Sea Grant College Program (CTSG) collaborates with maritime industries and coastal communities to identify needs, and fund research, outreach, and educational activities that have special relevance to Connecticut and Long Island Sound. CTSG works towards achieving healthy coastal and marine ecosystems and consequent public benefits by supporting integrated locally and nationally relevant research, outreach and education programs in partnership with stakeholders.

Convention on Biological Diversity
The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was formulated in December 1993. At the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, world leaders agreed on a comprehensive strategy for "sustainable development". One of the key agreements adopted at Rio was the CBD. This pact among the vast majority of the world's governments sets out commitments for maintaining the world's ecological systems as while pursuing economic development. The Convention establishes three main goals: the conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components, and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits from the use of genetic resources.

Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES)
CIRES researchers explore all aspects of the earth system and search for ways to better understand how natural and human-made disturbances impact our planet. CIRES informs decision-makers and the public about how to best ensure a sustainable future environment. CIRES is a joint institute of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Colorado at Boulder, with five centers: Climate Diagnostics, Earth Science & Observation, Limnology, National Snow & Ice Data, and Science & Technology Policy.

The Connecticut State Climate Center (CSCC) is one of the NCDC (National Climatic Data Center) and AASC (American Association of State Climatologist) recognized State Climate Offices. It is located in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Connecticut. Support of the service comes from various sources including the University of Connecticut Research Foundation and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Active collaborations are with national and regional climatic centers, federal and state agencies, and various educational institutions.

The Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) develops and provides special services focused on ecological forecasting and customized decision support tools for a variety of topics including climate change impacts. CBI provides scientific expertise to support the conservation and recovery of biological diversity in its natural state through applied research, education, planning, and community service. CBI utilizes GIS and remote sensing data to conduct assessments and planning in support of conservation projects globally.
